You lost one pound, how can that be failure, id say thats a success. After having my two children I never lost my baby weight and year after year I went on every diet and put on more and more weight. I would loose weight then stop the diet and then put the weight back plus more. I then decided to change my way of eating for life and went on a healthy eating plan, no calorie counting just low fat, lots of fruit and vegetables and the odd treat combined with light excercise like walking and swimming. It took me just over a year to loose 6 stones and I never believed I could do it but each pound that comes off is a positive. This was two years ago. However I put two stone back on just by over indulging and falling by the wayside as we all do. I am a comfort eater and have had some serious stress so just buried myself in chocolate etc to make me feel better until I realised it ddnt make me feel better so I am back eating healthy and have lost one stone so one stone to go to be back where I want to be. I know this doesnt seem a lot to you because you have so much more to loose but somehow I am finding it even harder now than when I had six stone in front of me. It is the hardest thing to do when you love your food.
You will have weeks when you lose weight and times when you fall down and pig out, I think you just ahve to not give in, if you have a bad day just start again the next day and dont beat yourself up about it. Its very hard but dont give in. Think about this if you only lost one pound every month you would be almost a stone lighter every year, one pound a week and youd be 4 stone lighter. If Id have carried on Id have been a stone heavier each year. How long have you been over weight? I was over weight about 10 years, so what if you only loose a stone a year, its a stone off not on and thats positive. If you put yur mind to it you could loose double that easily in the next year even with the odd blip on crap food or chocolate so dont think failure think you can do it and you wil do it and if I can, you can. Good luck to you!

I did Slimming World in UK, and every now and then we would feel we had failed because we had only lost 1 pound. I suggest go to the butcher shop and ask him for 1lb of fat. It is quite a big lump when you look at it.
I look at it, if I lose or stay the same one week I am on the right track. Every pound however small it seems will build into lbs, then stones etc.
Rome wasn't built in a day!

You feel a failure in life as your weight is holding you back, but you are standing up and doing something about it, every lb lost, which then will become stones will have your confidence growing. Before you know it you'll be strutting your stuff in the bar and clubs!!!

My first question to you is, what do you mean by 36 stone? But as to your question, did you do anything that would of made you lose that "1 lb"? Like take a long walk, eat somethings that were healthy, swimming, playing with a child, any little thing like that? If you don't have kids, do what I do. Barrow someone else's! They will keep you going, trust me! Even if you did or didn't , the smallest things should always give you a good boost in yourself esteem. You shouldn't look at it like it's something bad. Hey, you LOST it, not gained it. Now you just need someone to help you along a little further, and help you stay on track to continue to shed off the pounds. I'm not saying its going to happen over night but with some effort, it will come off before you know it. And you'll feel great for sticking with it. There will be days when you ABSOLUTELY FOR NO REASON IN THE WORLD, do you want to get out of bed. But as soon as you get out of bed the first thing you should do is stretch out. Then get ready to hit the gym! Let me know how it goes! Anna

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

Thats brilliant, but 3-4lbs a week for however long it takes to get to you correct weight is also good, and believe alot more healthy way of doing it and ya less likely to gain all the weight back. I always found when I lost weight i would lose tons in the first few weeks and then be lucky if I lost 1lb a week after that, but losing a 1lb a week was still better than gaining 3lbs. Your no way a failure and I wish you the best health. WELL DONE!

I have lost weight if you want to discuss it more with me then let me know, but good for you keep up the good work.

Well to fail something you need a target, you don't actually say what that is. But assuming your target is to loose weight, then I'd say no. Try to think of it this way, if you do the same again for the next 14 weeks, that's a full stone. Remeber to set yourself realistic targets, because when you succeed it makes you feel a success rather than a failure, and makes the next target seem that much easer.

At least you lost a pound and didnt gain one or stay the same. It shows you must be doing something right.
It may be that this week you have lost 1 pound but next week you will lose 4, keep it up and see how you get on first before giving up.

You LOST 1 pound, not gained it, so that sounds like a success to me! The only way you're going to get rid of that weight is a pound at a time, so keep at it - you're not a failure at anything unless you let yourself be. Good luck!

1 lb is better then losing nothing no your not a failure i actually heard the slower you lose weight the less likely you are to gain it again. How long have you been dieting? after a few weeks of dieting the weight loss will slow down for a few weeks. Keep at it you will get there
