It was far worse than that. He made a species extinct! After all, how many magic beanstalks do we see now?

It is of course always possible that Jack's was not the last beanstalk on the planet - but Jack is a role model. Those people of a nervous disposition under a certain age (those generally of a non-warring persuasion who are afraid of the monsters in the closet and the bogey man under the bed who are just too afraid to take back power in their own bedroom) would feel that they have the right to follow Jack's example and lay waste to their own bean stalks.

Furthermore, the beanstalk is not the only plant that Jack has destroyed - albeit indirectly. After all, how many trees had to suffer and die so that the capitalist regime can propogate his tree slaughtering propoganda in books?

Which ever way you look at it, Jack is to blame.

All the best

It wasnt ecological vandalism simply because beanstalks of over three metres were against councils regulations. Jack was actually trying to avoid a nasty fine of $50. Of course Jack could have got a lumberjack to get rid of it, as per council regulations, but it was cheeper to do it himself.

Of course he had a golden harp which fetches a lot of money on the trading post so, really, jack was just cheap.

The fact that he stopped a giant from coming down the beanstalk was just an added bonus.

His best defence would be one of necessity, and from an ecological point of view, it prevented the spread of the large predator species 'Feefie Foefuminus', endemic to clouds, to a region where its long-term impact could not be estimated.

Give the boy a magic bean, or something stronger, I say.

well technically yes but he did save us all from the giant so he'd probably get let off with a warning should the case come to court.

Actually it would be ECOLOGICIDE. He killed it, not vandalized it. Maybe Herbacide?? But he killed the Giant too, so thats homocide, but he can plead self defense for that one.
