one simple way of reducing acidity is to take antacid tablet or suspension-gelusil or digene( available in market),instead u may prefer aluminium hydroxide gel either in suspension or tablet form as they r meant for long term therapy because of their slow action.other steps that u can follow are: drink lot of water, avoid eating more hot & spicy food with chilly powder ,avoid tea, coffee & snacks.DON'T DRINK TEA/COFFEE EMPTY STOMACH.

Hello,

You will get many good answers, but one that is often overlooked is to drink more water. Drinking more water dilutes the acid reducing its effects. Most people need to drink more water anyway. Just my 2 cents.

If you're getting it at night and it's backing up into your throat, sleep with your head elevated. I sleep with 2 pillows and that seems to help.
