I say try to work up an appetite through exercise. Not only are you building up muscle, which weighs more than fat, but your body will need more energy to sustain it and you'll feel hungry more often. Also try eating more protein to bulk up. Your doctor may have other ideas as well.

normally, losing appetite and weight at the same time are related to bacterial infection, e.g. upper respiratory tract infection. if your doctor clears you of any infection, you might want to have your blood sugar level taken, especially if there's a history of diabetes in your family. losing weight fast without any apparent reason is one of the symptoms of diabetes.

The loss of appetite can be attributed to many things: meds, stress, etc. However, you are loosing weight because you body is metabolizing itself because of your , I am assuming, decreased diet (because of the loss of appetite) Rather than using your foodstuffs you eat it is "eating itself".
One cure might be to try meal supplements which are high in carbs. These can be nutritional, but not too filling. Another thing you can try is to eat meals which are high in carbs. Carbs equate to energy, which in turn means your body won't be "eating itself"
Good luck
