I think the south west/south coast would be warmer for camping in October. Have you thought about B&Bs? There are some cheap and cheerful ones that might do the trick if you don't want to camp the whole time. Or are there any cheapo ferry deals to go to France? There are loads of campsites there and food, drink etc will be cheaper than here ...

Well as its been the hottest september in a bout 10 years, you might be alright. Campings a right laugh I'd do that for sure. Or what about the lakes, camping in the lakes can be a little wet but its great, beautiful scenery.
Enjoy

Look for some of the coach tours of the continent, You will be able to go away for five and seven day trips cheaper than a weekend in the UK. My wife and I go on these all the time and we have a great deal of fun. A bit bum numbing but there are plenty of rest stops along the way. The tour companies also provide day trips to places of interest. Believe me, they are worth it.

Have you considered a short break in Stoke-On-Trent? I also hear that Crewe is beautiful at this time of year - both very cheap locations.

Why not stay at home? Visit your local tourist information centre and find out what's happening in your area. Make day trips to places around your area.
