Genesis 1
29 Then God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;
30 and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food"; and it was so.

Even though this passage is referring to what plants are given to humans and beasts as food, humans have been burning and smoking various vegetable matter for thousands of years. Does this mean this passage allows the smoking of weed? I wouldn't go that far to assume so much, but I will say this (of my own opinion)...

God specifies that certain plants, ones that bear seed mainly but also green ones, are to be food. Which means He knows we can gain nourishment and other helpful things from these plants. It is possible to eat weed, or include it in cooking various foods (ie brownies, spaghetti) - because we can see how the THC in weed not only has an intoxicating effect, its also has a relaxing effect.

What God prohibits is this...
Deuteronomy 18
9 "When you enter the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations.
10 "There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,
11 or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.

I would say that as long as your not using weed to do these things that God hates, but only using it to relax as you would a good glass of wine, why not?

But if you do have any doubts, then rather than worry about it, kept a clear conscience and see about giving up weed.

look none are perfect none of us. we all have some sort of habit. if you could do it on your own you wouldn't need Jesus. yes he loves you. somethings do take time for you to get over. its like you are being purged piece by piece. one at a time. and like the potter and the clay. he would have to break you down and build you up, you will understand when you go through it. some Christians still smoke cigarettes and weed, all still sin.and if they say different then they sin then. living a christian life isn't easy cause you have everyone looking at you. everyone just waiting to see you fall or make a mistake, but guess what we are human and God knew we would fall but he knew we would also get back up with repentance. and his mercy and grace and forgiveness gives us that chance to start again. don't worry about it the Lord will take that taste from you just remember none of us are perfect and when you pray pray and believe that he will do as he said he would and wait he hears you leave it in his hands it will happen

God hears everyone regardless of the status they are in. But He'll always make sure that He brings you closer to him. The side effects fo smoking weed are what might endanger your life. God is loving and always merciful. His arms are always open to those who seek his assistance. He still loves you and will always do so. He surely wants you to get over this and start your life again. Hence, continue praying so that he helps you get over it. You surely don't want to lead a double life where people see you as someone when deep inside you know your true-self.

Weeds usually end up in the compost. Consider this. How do you know that God (for you believers) really cares about human beings?

Imagine this. You’ve just bought a new home which you furnish with all sorts of nice fittings and fixtures, then prepare the grounds and garden. You plant a wide range of trees, shrubs, flowers, plants and vegetables. You clip and prune as time goes on, spray the weeds, and generally keep your property in good shape.

Many years pass and your gardens are flourishing, not a weed to be seen anywhere. You head off on holiday, a weed pops up and bugs start to crawl all over it. Not to worry, when you return home you spray the gardens, killing all the bugs and weeds. Everything is back to normal.

Now consider the universe. After billions of years a little planet (weed) called Earth pops up and it’s crawling with bugs called humans. Do you really think the gardener (or creator) really cares about the bugs and weeds? Do you think the gardener cares if he destroys you? Do you think that the bugs (humans) on the weed (Earth) have any idea what’s going on in the rest of garden (universe)? What happens to all human beings is just the same as what happens to all bugs and weeds – universal compost.

God loves you no matter what - Even if you hunt me down and murder me.
You can get over the weed with help from God. Use his strength and find a christian brother or sister to help you and keep you accountable.

Whether you succeed of not, God will love you the same.
p.s. - disregard any atheist answer in this category, they are blind and don't see what we see.

he put everything on earth for man to use. You are not going to hell because you smoke weed. And... you are not going to become a heroin addict or a homosexual just because you smoke weed. Thats completely rediculous and people who make these kind of comments have no grip on reality AT ALL!
If it makes you unhappy, stop it but if it doesn't cause you problems or hurt anyone else, enjoy. There are far worse things that you can do.

God still loves you and still hears you. He loves you no matter what you've done ... it doesn't matter what it is. But He doesn't want you to do anything that's bad for you, so I believe He would love to help you get over your addiction ... remember that nothing is impossible with God, God is bigger than weed and He's told us that we can overcome anything if we have faith -- we can even move mountains. And by the way, you should educate yourself if you haven't already so you fully understand the dangers of marijuana. Here's what Narconon has to say: http://www.narconon.org/druginfo/marijuana_addiction.html

First things first; stop trying to run with the fox and hunt with the hounds.

If you have to make a choice - God or weed - make it and abide by it, and don't complain if at some point in the future you decide you got it wrong.

If you believe in God, and that God loves you and yet you deliberately, willfully and knowingly do things that break His poor ol' heart, what right have you got to expect more from Him? Do you really and honestly think that if you repay the well-meaning love of a parent with a total lack of respect and outright abuse you have a right to expect more from him?

Even the most loving parents have their limits. And in time it is through love that they say enough is enough.

It's time to get your act together and abide by the rules of your father's house, or leave home and abide by the rules of your own house.

I hope you find happiness whichever way you go.

I think he does. He just wants you to ask him. Getting support from others who have gone through it too is also helpful. Email me if you have any more questions about it. I am an alcoholic and I have given it over to God and follow a specific program. I am sober and have been sober for about five months now. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :)
