I once contemplated walking in front of a train when I was depressed but, bizarrely enough, I thought about the traumatic effect it would have on the driver and his wife who would have to deal with the after ffects of such a selfish action so I didn't do it, thankfully. It also helped me realise that we're all connected and that helped lift the depression a little bit.

I don't fully understand what makes people do it.
They must be so depressed with life that they feel that there is nothing worth living for. I cannot comprehend how depressed that must be. I have been depressed in my time, but never so bad as to contemplate suicide.
They must be in some sort of living hell, and the only way out is death.
I'm not a religious man, but we should all pray for people in that state of depression.

When I lived in Edmonton in my early 20's I used to take the train to work everyday. I was suffering from BDP (I still am), but getting no treatment. I used to stand at the very edge of the platform every day and wait for the train to rush by me...Every day I thought 'that's death blowing by me'...I used to think everyday, will I jump? Every day! It was terrifying, really. I'm glad I'm getting treatment now, or else I think I would've jumped.

This is an answer best known to people who went through it. You know it because you decided to live while on the edge. Can I have the answer from you? That would be a great help for me and million others who might follow your step back to life.

Because of gravity. You can actually feel the pull that the gravity creates. It's not that you want to jump in front of the train or jump off the bridge it's just simple force of gravity.

The mind works in ways that are difficult to understand. We remember things automatically, we have a subconscience. If an idea gets ingrained into us somehow, it can have an effect on us. What we watch, to whom we talk, and how much or little we have to keep our mind occupied are factors.
