God is neither male nor female, but God.
However, when God came to earth he came as a man - Jesus.
And Jesus called God Abba, which means Dad.
So if we are going to apply gender to God it makes sense to apply the Gender that God applied.

Some Humans do a similar thing with animals or nations. Dogs are assumed to be a "he," by some just as house cats are assumed as "she," before the sex is actually known. Humans even describe their nations, nature and time in this way. Motherland, Fatherland, Mother Nature, Fathertime.
The Creator would require the limitation of a physical body to be of either sex. The implication that the Limitless, Unique, Omnipotent , Creator would be of either sex refutes Uniqueness, Limitless, Self Sufficiency, etc.
The description is figurative .

I appreciate your worship. The creator is termed "Him" in a futile attempt to put some kind of balance into the world. Everything feminine is beautiful and creative by nature. If people are happier giving a bit of that creative power to the masculine side, it is fine. I will just take some of the traditionally male elements for myself. No matter how humans try to change the balance of nature, the universe is too vast for them to make a dent in reality.

because Creator by It's nature is a male principle
We call Mother Nature that because nature is a feminine principle
its really that simple there are no gender politics involved.
As for who you worship thats your business but "She" is a tangible reality
Forgive my saying but its why we love the mother more, because she cares for us physically and nurtures us.
yet without a father we would not exist.
with divine creation, the Source of all though is the source of all, even the mother nature so will you worship the reflection or the source?

I'll do it out of habit or so I don't scare away Christians from reading my answers.
One of my favorite statues though is one of Gaia pregnant with the earth. It's so serene and peaceful and I always picture that when I think God. She's beautiful and life giving. I believe there is a masculine God too but I think of that statue. If you do a GIS for Gaia, it should be on the first page or two. I'd link it but I'm not sure if I'd get flagged since she's topless (it's NOT dirty though, I promise)

God is neither male nor female. the term He was used as it was more acceptable to worship a male than female.

God does not have a sex. But if you are talking about your wife then I would suggest that you stop reffering to her as 'him'. You might have an easier time.
