Definitely the web site of Treni Italia is a good start. That said, I'd suggest to check the blog Italy From The Inside which has just released a free full guide on the Italian train system.

Hi,

I would check out the Italian related links on this webpage:
http://www.italyexposed.com/bookings.shtml#accomodations

Click the banner: "Find all your EUROPEAN RAIL Passes and Tickets here". Many good packages are found here.

Best regards,

Ketil Sjavik
