if most of you read the question he has very HIGH CHOLESTEROL , Cherrios ain't gonna cut it, Very high means in the 98th percentile (over 300), so stop watching TV as oats work with people with slightly elevated cholesterol, and even then it works by 10-15 % , statins and niacin sustained release will bring it down as with a low fat diet.
Also CO q 10 enzyme at 400 mg once or twice a day will help with the aches and pains

If you have a family history of high cholesterol, then it's probably in your genetic make up. If you are on Lipitor, then discuss other treatment options with your doctor. Lipitor has been known in some patients to have this side effect.Lovastatin can cause muscle cramps, myalgia. Zetia has shown to cause back pain in some patients along with Welchol. Pravachol has been shown to cause myositis, myopathy, localized muscle pain, rhabdomyolysis. Crestor, too has also caused pain in some patients. Maybe consider a switch to Gemfibrozil or Zocor could help you. I do not know your medical history, so check with your doctor and ask him about those two medications. Good luck!

For your cholesterol problem, eat one avocado per day, but only "one"(you dont want to over do it) as it contains a significant amount of mono-unsaturated fat, this will definately decrease your harmful cholesterol and also triglyceride levels. As for your vitamin D deficiency, go outside more often as the sun is a natural source of vitamin D. you can also take a multivitamin since you used to be bulimic so you can fulfill your vitamin intake requirements. make sure the multivitamin contains some zinc (for the bulimia). Also for the weight, stay away from Trans Fats and decrease your intake in Saturated Fats. On the other hand, Unsaturated Fats (Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated Fats) and Omega Fatty Acids (Omega-3s,Omega-6s,etc) are the good beneficial fats, especially in your case. Dont skip out on theses good fats, just because it says fat does not always mean its bad for you.

Hello cajunjo06,
You really need to see your physician. Your problem is that your liver is producing too much cholesterol. Many people think cholesterol comes from their diet. It's not right. The main part is produced into the body by the liver.
One of the nutrient that can help is niacin. But some people experienced trouble and allergy with it.This is known as niacin flush.
If you are looking for natural ways, you can visit this website.
http://www.vitamin-supplement-reference.com/lower-cholesterol.html
They recommend 3 products but the one I would personnaly choose is their first recomendation,Cholest-Natural. I saw many people getting results with it.
Hope this helps

Oatmeal is a very good source of soluble fiber that can help lower your cholesterol. You might also ask your doctor or pharmacist about time-release niacin. I've read several comments by a syndicated medical columnist, Dr. Peter Gott, that niacin has shown tremendous results in helping lower cholesterol levels.

Watch what you eat, try eating oatmeal or cheerios for breakfast every day. Oats have been proven to reduce cholesterol. WATCH WHAT MED YOU TAKE!!!!!
I took a cholesterol med for a month and a half, caused depression, muscle weakness, fatigue, impotence, loss of memory, and too many other things to count. I quit. My brother took one for years. They kept checking his liver function, but found out recently it was affecting his muscles. He now has to use a walker.
Exercise daily. Half hour on an exercise bike every day helped mine. Combined with workintg out on bowflex, and sit-ups. Good luck.

My husband's level and his triglycerides were astronomical and now they are normal. Beside the meds we have stopped using ANY cooking oils except small amts of Olive oil and sprays; started eating oatmeal breakfast bars. granola trail mix; very little beef or pork ... we use a lot of turkey in our 93% fat free ground beef. In other words, REALLY watch your diet. You need to have your doctor change your statins. Some of them can actually harm your liver, also.
