Timing when to have sex determines what gender the baby will be, NOT the sexual position.
The males sperm is what decides what gender the baby will be. However, there are 2 types of male sperm. There are 'boy' sperm, and 'girl' sperm. 'Boy' sperm are the stronger of the sperm. They swim faster and make it to the egg first. However, they have a short life span, and die off a few days before the 'girl' sperm.'Girl' sperm are the slower sperm. They are the last ones to get to the egg, but they have a longer life span.
To try for a baby girl, have sexual intercourse a few days BEFORE the woman ovulates. This is because, by having sex before she ovulates, by the time her body releases an egg, all the 'boy' sperm will have died off because they have a shorter life span, and the 'girl' sperm will be left. If the couple have sexual intercourse at the time the woman is ovulating, they would more likely have a boy, because the 'boy' sperm are the stronger ones and will get there first.
If the woman has regular periods, then her time of ovulation is about 14 days after the first day of her last period. For example, if she started her period on the 1st of the month, then her time of ovulation would be on or around the 15th of the month. The couple should have sexual intercourse about 3 days before this day to help get a girl.
If she has irregualar periods, then she can buy an Ovulation Test, that is available almost anywhere that sells pregnancy tests, to determine when she is ovulating.

The sex of the child is determined by the sperm. The sex of the child has nothing to do with the mother or the father's genes. Only the father's sperm. Y male, X female. Not the way a child is carried or the position or the birth date, etc. determines the sex. You need to speak with a doctor or someone that has background in biology.

No- you're right. All the rest of that stuff is nonsense. I carried 4 boys and looked different with each one. Everybody was convinced that my last would be a girl because I carried low and didn't gain much weight, but all that is just guesswork. Each pregnancy is different because you're at a different age each time and there are differences in the way you carry your first and subsequent babies. Hope this explains it a bit!

Yes scientifically sex is determined genetically, however this is a time of joy of hope and of "old wives tales" and the scientific is just a wee bit to unemotional. Afterall one is giving birth to a human baby not an android.
