Too much sleep makes you crazy and not enough sleep makes you crazy. It's lose/lose as far as I'm concerned because there are times when I want to sleep all day, but when I do, I feel like crap. Then there are times when I don't get any sleep at all and I turn into a cranky bastard. I just wish there was a pill that keeps you rested and energized at the same time.

Its always better to sleep more than less...you cant just sleep 3 hours one day and then 9 the next...youll still be tired...
I find that if i go to bed early that i wake up earlier and easier...like ill turn my alarm off faster than normal and just get out of bed instead of just laying there wishing i could sleep past classes that day......yea youve all been there too :)

Yes, the body needs activity to keep it going, and too much sleep reduces the metabolic activity low, nerves, muscles inactive, and causes discomfort, less appetite, excessive bile juice etc..

try this, the first time you wake up, even if it is 4am, GET UP and stay up. go to bed normal time the next day. get up again when you first wake up. most importantly...GO TO BED THE SAME TIME EVERYDAY! after a few days you should be able to tell how much sleep your body needs. everyone is different. and yes, you can have too much sleep, it is a sign of depression.

Personally, I am to a point in my life where I would like to hibernate for at least six months out of the year like a bear. Preferably the hottest months.

Yes you can. It will make you sluggish, dull, and will waist soooo much time. You can sleep when you can't do anything else.... IF you are that tried See a good Dr.
