What would be a good hand signal to indicate to another driver that you are sorry ? I've made a mistake.

The peace sign is a remnant of the 70's. That along with a guilty nod should suffice. The peace sign is made by making a "V" with your pointer and middle fingers, usually while touching the tip of your thumb to the tips of your ring and little fingers.

How about the 'finger gun' to your head? That will make you look like you are the one at fault.
