I met my fiance on the Solstice when I was 14 and he proposed many years later at the same time. I'm all about spending time with my loved ones so if my fiance and I aren't getting away for some romantic winter celebrations, I'll probably go to my grammas and hang with her and bake and be happy.

Germany is a very nice place to be during Winter Solstice. It's a very peaceful atmosphere (where I was in Northern Bavaria) and have so many lights and such a happiness at that time, it's hard not to just be in love with the earth and the stars. I'd love to go spend the Solstice back in Bavaria.

I usually celebrate it near home (currently Alaska), sometimes I don't even leave home. I usually only take that evening off so I can't go far. I'm not a real pagan though. I just celebrate the goodness of the god/goddess/gods in my own way, only occasionally joining with a group.
