Because Studying is damn boring plus there are hell lots of entertainments and technology that keeps you busy.
I mean, it's no a matter on concentration but whether you have interest in it. For example, my brother concentrates on computer games and even woke up at 4.00am in the morning to play. This shows how hardworking he is in games.
Therefore, the answer is simply --> No interest in studies.

It is called ADD, or Attention Deficit Disorder.
It's cause ranges from hyper stimulation of the hormonal glands to an obsessive fixation on useless information, which causes the mind to wonder and follow the flight path of flies.

societal status...the need to impress to fit in to them is more important than succeeding in class. peer pressure is also another reason why they can't concentrate in their studies...parents in particular demand so much of their child. the main reason why teenagers can't succed is because their associates fill their minds about taking drugs to look cool and feel popular.

They are young. They have a lot of strength and curiosity. How can they concentrate on something so boring as studies?

becuase they just dont understand how their studies will benefit them. In many cases, they have parents and teachers with little ability to help them see the light.

because there are many things that they want to learn aside from studying their maths and sciences. they want to learn cool stuff without having lots of stress.

to many distractions computers mp3 cell phones tv MYSPACE.....its a shame i had the same problem in highschool and didnt do as good as i know i could have done....
