I don't mean like losing 40 lbs in a month but something that would enable me to lose maybe 10-20 lbs in a month? I have to lose a total of 96 lbs and don't want to have to diet for years to lose it. I expect it to take a while but hopefully no more than 8-12 months. I also need a diet that is rather cheap to follow.

Water, Water, Water and more water. Drink a 16 oz glass Before eating a meal or snack. Lower carbs and fats. Go with fresh veggies, steamed or raw and if you can cut out meat for a full week. It works if you stick with it for a full 2 weeks...

i always say that it didnt come on quickly and you cant take it off fast. it will take time. and you have to think on changing your eating habits. not diet. changing what it is you eat. doing it healthy is so much better, and not focusing on losing the weight, but that you are eating right. trust this it works. you drink plenty plenty of water cause most of it is water weight. and of course some walking or just moving around to firm and exercise your body.your grocer bill may even be a little lower with buying more fresh foods than processed. eating more healthy home made foods than fried take outs. substitute all that is bad with good. pop for water, or omit the tea and coffee drink vitamin water, and not so much juice for it has lots of sugar. you can eat the sugar but not so much of it as you were eating candy or cakes or sweets as that. your body does need sugar in it but to a limit you put in it. at this rate you can see a sliming down, maybe a good 2 pounds a week that is healthy anything more than you need be in trouble that is not good cause its coming off too fast and that will mean you will gain that back plus more. eating right should then become a habitual thing for you dont expect it to show pounds soon inches first.. then comes the pounds

How much do you weigh and how tall are you? You need to establish your BMI as well to determine what range you are in. This is calculated by wt (lbs) / height (squared) x 703... 18.5-24.9 is normal <18.5 underweight >30 obese.. Also, do you have any underlying health issues that may affect an exercise pattern? If you are not sure what physical activity you can do, check with your doctor. In the meantime if that all checks out ok, I would start out with a cardio/weight training regime at least 3 times a week. Cardio can range from walking briskly/running/biking/swimming or anything that gets your heart pumping for at least 30 mins. You don't want to overdo it i'e if you can't talk during your cardio, it's too much, but you should get your heartrate up (check ranges for different age groups) Now with weights, that's a little trickier, but there are a lot of excellent websites and books you can use as references for effective toning. When training various body parts, you want to do at least 3 -4 exercises with 3 sets of 12-15 reps each. You do not want to train each body part everytime. You will learn proper techniques as you get familiar with the exercises. Diet pattern: start by making subtle changes so you don't shock your body. ex: switch to skim milk, whole grains etc. You will need plenty of water (at least 2-3 liters/day) Cooking healthy is also a big part, so broil, bake , grill and microwave if you can.. One good website for recipes www.3fatchicks.com Make sure you eat lots of lean protein/vegetables..and learn how to portion out food so you're not overeating as well. Main thing, listen to your body and feel good. You will succeed in your goal so don't be discouraged if you have a bad day once in a while. We can't be healthy 24/7. One final tip, i always try to go by how my clothes feel and not so much by the scale, because once you start putting on muscle, you may not like what you see on the scale... Good luck.

Stop eating junk foods, forget a quick 'diet', just eat healthy low fat meals, cut out snacks in between and late at night and most importantly.. get up and get active! Seriously its not rocket science but it is science. Its what you put in and what you burn off. Leave the car at home and walk. Walk briskly and walk every day. You dont have to fit it into your daily routine as an extra, just walk instead of driving. If you have a bus you can catch to work, walk to the bus stop then to work at the other end. If you need to go to the shops, walk. Diets don't work, healthy meals and excersise do. Get a skipping rope or a hoola hoop and walk. You dont need expensive equipment or gym memberships just the desire to get off your butt and the car is your worst enemy.
