Been there, done that.

There's something to be said about a fresh start.
Besides, friends have phones. Some have webcams. :)

How old are you? How much do you know about the place you plan to move to.? Good areas? Bad Areas? What are housing costs and availability? How much money do you have for housing, food, furniture, medical care etc, while you're looking for a job? Do you have a car? Moving out of state means new license plates, drivers license, maybe higher insurance costs?Do you know anything about job market? If you already have answers to these things then yes, move. If it doesn't work out you can always move back. When you get a job or join a church or do volunteer work, you'll meet new friends. Have you vacationed in that area? If not, go spend a couple weeks and explore these questions.
What are you "starting over" from? If you haven't solved the problems that are motivating you to move, you'll just wind up taking them with you, at least in your mind. Depressed and hurt over a broken romance? You'll still be depressed and hurt no matter how far away you move until you put the problems behind you. If it's physical or mental abuse move away and get help to overcome those pains.
Think it over carefully and I wish you the very best in whatever you decide. Good Luck. May the sun always shine on your face and the wind always be at your back!

I did exactly that about 1yr. & 6 months ago. It has been very hard for me, but worth it in a lot of ways. Now tho I am ready to return home, and do not have the money, or a good enuf vehicle to make the trip. Christmas was the hardest for me, and while talking to my family on the phone cried like a baby. If you are leaving with someone else, be sure they are not getting you into a situation you cannot get out of if you are a way from family and friends. That could be a control issue and a very dangerous one at that!! you need to weigh pros and cons and sensibly decide which ones weigh the most.

You will never be away from your family and true friends, for you will live with them every minute of every day ,spiritually. If you are not running away from home as a minor, try discussing your plans with your family and friends, and ask for their support, because you're seriously going to need it. Keep in mind that you can never run from yourself.

Absolutely not. 99% of the time when someone "runs" sooner or later they find that the problems follow right with them. Most of our troubles are in our personalities.

Better to stay put, think about your good an bad points, and maybe get counseling to see if that will help your situation.

Sometimes it's nice to have a fresh start where no one knows what to expect from you. It is a good way to find out who you are as a person. Not to mention it really helps hone your ability to fend for yourself.
