Does consuming large amounts of vitamin C cause cancer or toxicity?
Also is there any other vitamins that are known for causing health problems when they are taken too much.

You can divide vitamins into two groups: One you can O/D on, the other not. Vitamin C is part of the safe side, and it will not cause cancer. Having said that, and you will probably be surprised to hear this, taking vitamin pills is actually not a good idea, because they cause your body to start to try regulating things back to harmonious levels if you get too much of one vitamin, and as a result of that, it may purge all the others. Try taking vitamins in their natural form (fresh fruit and veg). If you happen to be one pf those people who feel they have to take supplements (been, there, done that, stopped it, all nonsense), go for mineral supplements, they actually work. Vitamins are useless without all the enzymes and within then natural balance of things they were derived from.
As for vitamins you can get too much of: Don't do too much E and D, and A as well as K can also be harmful if taken too much.

In my profession, even vitamins are considered "medications" and all medications have potential adverse effects. All vitamins will cause problems when taken in excessive doses with some vitamins causing problems more serious than others and sometimes having the opposite effect that you're trying to achieve. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin and most of the excess is excreted in the urine, however, it can cause diarrhea. Vitamins are not known to cause cancer. I suggest you buy book on nutrition.

Vitamin C is not stored by the body, so you can never consume too much and it will have no toxic effects. I doubt it causes cancer, in fact it is known to help prevent cancer, as it is an antixoident. Antioxidents mop up free radicals, which are what can cause cancer to develop. HTH.

Too much regular c is likely to cause diarrhea but esterfied C will put a stop to that...usually too much of any vitamin results only in expensive urine and feces...the oil based vitamins like E can interfer with drugs like coumiden and soy interferes with the absorption of thyroid meds...the list goes on and on...Nothing is safe if taken to extremes...

I've been wondering the same thing --the levels, that is that are toxic.

I know too much is hard on your kidneys. I'd talk to a nutritionist?

If you wait long enough, eventually the FDA will conclude that almost EVERYTHING can cause cancer.
