there is a scripture, sorry, I cannot remember the reference but it says, " I will turn my eyes from worthless things"
At the very least, movies like this have no value, they are not edifying or glorifying God in any way.
At the worst, they will play on your fears, open doors to accepting things as normal the things that God calls abomination. We are not to toy with witchcraft, demons, necromancy, etc. In doing what God has called us to do, be a set apart, sanctified and holy people- we need to be careful and discerning about what we 'feed' ourselves spiritually. Everything will have an effect on us and the words and images we choose to subject ourselves to are not easily forgotten, but stored in our subconscience where the enemy can use them to being on stress, fear , strife and doubt. God tells us to think on what is true, honest, just pure, lovely and of good report. Is it possible to think on these things when you are watching a movie of this nature?? Is it difficult to think on these things when you are reminded of scenes or words from movies of this nature-
we have enough in this world to contend with, enough thoughts to bring into captivity to the obedience of Christ without deliberately adding more- making our walk with the Lord more challenging than it needs to be.
Be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind- your mind cannot be renewed through these worthless things- only through the washing of the word can you be set apart and sanctified, can you think on the things that god tells us to think on , can you easily take into captivity the thoughts that set themselves up against Christ and can you live a blessed and abundant life.
Yes , there is demonic involvement in watching these movies because Satan has set himself up as an enemy of the Lord and it is his goal to get your mind off of the things of God and onto the things god calls abominable. It is the goal of Satan to make your walk challenging, to fill your eyes and time with worthless things so that you are constantly having to fight off thoughts until those thoughts don't seem so bad anymore- His goal is to bring division between you and Christ and to weaken your discernment and through these kinds of movies- it is possible.

My church (the Catholic church) has a website where the bishops study films such as the exorstis (actually like EVERY movie basicaly) and tehy rate them according to moral objectionablility (if thats a word). They strongly warm against watching teh exorstist. Not that were not technicaly "allowed" to watch it, but to much intrest in the devil is never a good thing. Leave him alone.

Hehe nah. If you're watching the movie and an evil spirit comes through the wall, then it could very well feel as if you are going to be fun prey. But I don't think demons are the reason we decide to watch horror movies.

When you watch movies which glorify the devil or magnify his works there is the risk of your mind being involved with the devil. Do read Billy Grahams book "Angels".

Demons know that movies like "The Exorcist" make you more aware of them and there fore more receptive to their suggestions, or more scared of them, and they feed off of your fears. Best suggestion? If you get the "Holy cow, I am not alone now" heebe geebes after watching a movie like that, don't watch them.

From experience I would say that when you watch movies like that you open doors - meaning you open yourself up to the possiblility of things happening in your life that are from Satan. I would strongly suggest that you don't watch those type of movies. It's not a good idea.

That was a fantasy film, and demons are mythological characters out of a flawed, man-made book.
