I don't have a lot of money to spend on favors, but I want to leave a little something at each table at my wedding reception. Anyone have any ideas on something that's not too expensive, but nice? Also, there's goin to be kids there, so nothing breakable.

Ideas that are not going to happen are: cameras, little pictures in frames.

i hosted a baby shower before and just bought some votives(you could even find ones to match your wedding colors, and don't go to partylite or illuminations, just find cheap inbulk ones) made and printed out pretty labels for them, then stuck each one in those little mesh bags(which are VERY cheap at a party supply or craft store, i think i've even seen them on EBAY), you could even add little glass or crystal beads to the bag strings which would be REALLY pretty. they were really nice and professional looking and everyone actually could USE them! ;-)

I too didn't have much money to just through away, but I saw an idea and copied it. Buy cheap plastic spoon, tool, Hershey Kisses and print out little pieces of paper that says : hugs and kisses from the new Mr. and Mrs.! You will also need to buy some thin ribbon. Punch a hole at the end of the printed strip, thread your ribbon through put a kiss on the spoon and wrap the tool around the spoon. Then with the ribbon wrap it around the spoon and tie a bow. It's a little time consuming, but very cheap! I made 250 of them it might have cost $25 or so! Good Luck! Also serve your wedding cake for desert! This will save you lots also!

Its good that you are not planning to spend a lot of money on them, even if you had it I would not recommend it. To tell you the truth almost everybody just throws them away, why? because people don't want to crowd their house with those dumb things, they'll remember your wedding by other things, so why not use that money towards something else more important than on something that will end up in the garbage?
If you really want party favors, then just pass out something like hershey's kisses in a nice little container with some kind of ribbon around it. you can just buy those at any craft store. People will just eat the candy and toss the rest....

I agree with Yanie, most favors get thrown away and are a waste of money. You could print something that says " Thank you for helping us celebrate our special day", on sticky back paper. You could probably get 12 of the thank you printed on each page.Go to a craft store and get as many votive candle cups ( I would suggest 1 per couple ) that you will need. If you watch the sale fliers from the craft stores, you can often get them for about .25. Next cover the candle cup with the thank you that you have cut into separate pieces. Put a tea light in each cup and evenly space them around your centerpieces. Your guests get a favor ( candle cup ) and you enhance your centerpieces with the candle light at your reception.

Not sure why you want to "leave a little something" at the table. Whatis its purpose- is it something they can enjoy during the reception or something to take home? If something to enjoy then cookies or candy nicely wrapped or displayed is sweet , relatively cheap and non breakable. If you have kids and adults mixed at tables then I would avoid alcohol. A cd of pics of you and the groom or your favorite music is another good idea and cheap.

People always love food! You just have to be creative....A pack of mints- you write "Mint" to be together The sweethearts candy(from valentines day)- again the same idea. The mints you can get for like 40 cents a piece and the valentines candy cost next to nothing. Or go looking at the dollar store and see what you can find and just put a cute saying with it, and everyone will like it. Good luck!!

I agree that food is your best bet. How many showers/weddings have you been to and you still have the favor you got? I looked around my house and I have none! We did Hershey bars at our wedding. Made the labels on our computer. It is cheap, cute and people like to eat chocolate when they are driving home drunk!!(jk)

You can make little packets of m&m's. Get that mesh material, some m&m's, ribbon in your wedding colors and even tie some gold wedding bands onto it. You can probably fill small votive holders w/the candies and cover it w/the mesh.

You can buy little bottles of bubbles and tie some ribbon on them and have them at the table.

You could buy some colorful candies or mints and wrap them in some white tulle or satin and tie them with a ribbon.

Buy some colorful votive candles and wrap them in colorful tulle.

If your budget doesn't allow them just throw personalized (w/ names & wedding date)matches on the tables & call it a day. My bestfriend just got married & couldn't squeeze favors in so I bought the matches for her and no one even noticed;-) The unshallow--won't!!
