Yes especially CHICKEN...I wash all of it...at least rinse the other meats....before repackaging it for the freezer....For the chicken I buy a whole one and cut it up into serving pieces then soak it in salted water and it brings out all the blood. I feel safer doing this. You never know where it's been before it comes to our tables....and into our bodies..it only takes a few minutes but I eat it feeling much better that I took precautions to stop any germs from giving us problems later.

Obviously not ground meats, but it's wise to rinse fowl and fish, as well as other meats like roasts that have taken time to thaw and are sitting in lots of blood. Or you can just pat them with a paper towel. The outside of the meats is most likely to be warmer temperature, and therefore most likely to be harboring bacteria. Rinsing them will minimize, not rid.

If I buy meat from a market other than my special butcher, I rinse the meat (except ground meat, which I just cook the h#ll out of) off. Pat dry, and start to cook and season. Those styro boxes are breeding grounds for all kind of icky filth and bacteria.

Yes, I do. I rinse it thoroughly under cool water. It gets rid of pooled blood and I just feel better about doing it for countering "handling." Cooking it to the appropriate temperature is what really kills any germs or bacteria. Funny, I don't rinse ground beef! I learned how to cook from my parents. They rinsed meat so I follow in their tradition.

This is an old Army trick. You can wash anything within reason with bleach and water - even grapes. You might want to Google this. It's called the Clorox Wash.

If there's bloody fluid in the package, yes, I rinse the meat with cold water. Otherwise, no. Cooking the meat kills germs.

I have never and will never be rinsing meat, and the only time I rinse fish is if i have just gutted and then I rinse the cavity. You are going to cook this stuff, if you are rinsing it do you not have faith in your cooking skills to heat the food past 70C? For heavens sake people save yourself the work, and conserve a bit more flavour. Please!

of course.. what guarantee do you have that it has been already done?? I mean not being distrustfull is one thing, taking things for granted is another.. by the way some will tell you that cooking makes washing unnecessary since it kills the germs, it's up to you to decide whether you will rely just on that
