it is because we indians have not come out of our colonial slavery till now.
you see a japanese or chinese or any other for that matter, though they are in very high positions, they speak in their mother tongues even in public (like interviews etc.)

also, may be in india we have many mother tongues, english serves as a better brdging language !!

Yes we do. Come to India and 75% people speak in Hindi and know and understand Hindi.

We do speak Hindi. But you should consider that for communication, you have to use common langauge and it happens to be English for us. It is our strength too and a clear advantage over other developing countries like China.
Be broad minded and continue using Hindi wherever you require or the situation requires.

Who said we don't speak in Hindi.?Atleast I do wherever neccessary.But since English is an official language so we communicate in English .

india is a country of unity in diversity. there r so many colours of india. so many religions, castes, festivals, seasons and even so many languages. still v indians r one and united. and v r proud of it.u will b surprised2 know that there r 23 official languages and 1652 unofficials languages of india.
infact hindi is concentrated mostly in parts of northern india. i appreciate ur idea of using hindi 2 a large scale bcoz it is one of our national language and a main language of india. and india is known by hindi language internationally. v all shud use hindi 2 a great extend 2 popularize it.
but one line which binds all of us and also written in hindi is
"JAI HIND".
