If the WT Org. is a prophet of God, why has it made false prophecies?
1897 "Our Lord, the appointed King, is now present, since October 1874," Studies in the Scriptures, Vol. 4, page 621.
1899 "...the ‘battle of the great day of God Almighty' (Revelation 16:14), which will end in A.D. 1914 with the complete overthrow of earth's present rulership, is already commenced." The Time Is at Hand, page 101 (1908 edition).
1918 "Therefore we may confidently expect that 1925 will mark the return of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the faithful prophets of old, particularly those named by the Apostle in Hebrews 11, to the condition of human perfection." Millions Now Living Will Never Die, page 89.
1922 "The date 1925 is even more distinctly indicated by the Scriptures than 1914." The Watchtower 9/1/22, page 262.
1923 "Our thought is, that 1925 is definitely settled by the Scriptures. As to Noah, the Christian now has much more upon which to base his faith than Noah had upon which to base his faith in a coming deluge." The Watchtower, page 106 4/1/23.
1925 "The year 1925 is here. With great expectation Christians have looked forward to this year. Many have confidently expected that all members of the body of Christ will be changed to heavenly glory during this year. This may be accomplished. It may not be. In his own due time God will accomplish his purposes concerning his people. Christians should not be so deeply concerned about what may transpire this year." The Watchtower, 1/1/25, page. 3.
1931 "There was a measure of disappointment on the part of Jehovah's faithful ones on earth concerning the years 1917, 1918, and 1925, which disappointment lasted for a time...and they also learned to quit fixing dates." Vindication, page 338.
1941 "Receiving the gift, the marching children clasped it to them, not a toy or plaything for idle pleasure, but the Lord's provided instrument for most effective work in the remaining months before Armageddon." The Watchtower, 9/15/41, page 288.
1968 "True, there have been those in times past who predicted an ‘end to the world', even announcing a specific date. Yet nothing happened. The ‘end' did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying. Why? What was missing?.. Missing from such people were God's truths and evidence that he was using and guiding them." Awake, 10/8/68.
1968 "Why are you looking forward to 1975?" The Watchtower, 8/15/68, page 494.

Wow. Did you do all that research all by yourself? Or did you find a book with all of those little quotes in it? Did you notice that we are now living in 2006? Did you notice when the last WT quote you used is from? 1968. Did you realize that the Pope was looking to 1975 to be a significant year? 1975 was even declared a "holy year" by the pope.

Funny, as I read your quotes from 1968, I don't see anything that says, 'Armageddon is coming in 1975.' Hey, if you have the WT bound volume that you quoted from, maybe you should read the entire article, not just the title of the article, and see for yourself that they were not saying the end of the world was 1975. The article is about Bible chronology. It discusses the end of 6000 years of mankinds existance.

Now with that said. You can not be so blind not to see the conditions that are going on in the world today. The wars, pestilence(diseases), earthquakes, food shortages, hatred, love of money, haughtiness, disobedience to parents, unthankfulness, disloyalty, no natural affection....the list goes on. These were all things that we were told to watch for. (2 Timothy 3:1-5; Matthew 24) These are the things that we are seeing NOW. My suggestion to you would be to open your eyes and see what is going on around us right now. Get over the dates. You are not going to persuade any Jehovah's Witness that they do not have the truth by showing them dates and sentences taken out of context. You on the other hand could benefit from waking up to the reality that is around you now, today.

Despite the lying slander of their more deceitful critics, Jehovah's Witnesses have humbly taught that they are *NOT* infallible and *NOT* inspired by God; that's more than 125 years of unwavering eschewal of the definition of "prophet" insisted upon by this so-called "questioner" and other anti-Witness activists.

Jehovah's Witnesses apply the term "prophet" only in a very limited sense to themselves as a religion, not to individuals. The Scriptures indicate that whenever Jehovah purposes to execute judgment upon a people, he always makes arrangment for a 'prophet's work' as a warning. Their self-description as a "prophet" (in this limited sense) does not indicate special inspired knowledge or foreknowledge, but their willingness to perform Christ's assigned warning work in our day leading up to Armageddon.

What group is working harder than Jehovah's Witnesses to preach God's message globally (as Noah did before the Deluge)?

(Amos 3:7) For the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will not do a thing unless he has revealed his confidential matter to his servants the prophets.

(2 Peter 2:5) Noah, a preacher of righteousness...

(Matthew 24:14) And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.

Hi Brad,

I see you're still trying. :-)

You had better be careful, I know several people who started reading Jehovah's Witnesses material, with the view of proving them wrong, who are fine witnesses today.

I think it's interesting that when I started going door to door, all 'christians' would tell me that the earth was going to be destroyed. Now after so many years of showing people from the bible that the earth is going to be a paradise, I now have 'christians' telling me that their ministers are teaching that the earth will be restored to paradise during the 1000 yr reign of Christ.

Amazing isn't it.

I think it's interesting that when I started going door to door all 'christians' told me the wicked are going to burn in hell. After so many years of showing people from the bible that hell is not hot, 'christians' are telling me that hell is being removed from God.

And yet I've never heard of a denomination say they've changed their mind, unless it was to approve a practice that the bible condemns.

King David made mistakes, Paul approved of the killing of Christians, Jonah went in the wrong direction, Jeremiah swore not to talk about Jehovah again

My faith is not in man or men. My faith is in Jehovah's word. Acts 15: describes a heated debate on what God's word said.

Aquila and Priscilla expounded the truth more accurately to Apollos.

Even the angel are looking into the time table of Jehovah to figure out when and how Jehovah was going to correct matters, Shouldn't we be as interested?

Doesn't matter how old those quotes are, what matters is that those those quotes were made and not repudiated.

So, since those quotes are so old, there must have been pleanty of time for the Watchtower to repudiate them. We're waiting for the quotes that repudiate them.

Until then, they're guilty of unrepentant false prophecy, doesn't matter how old it is.

Because...we need something to look forward to. If the date is too far off we will not pay attention.

We are now focused on 2009, July 18th to be exact. And if nothing happens on that date, we have a back up date which we will release shortly thereafter.

Hope this helps.

It's another false religion. What's so sad is the fact that I know many JW members that are good people.
