It depends - if I have to deal with them say through work I will usually kill them with kindness.

If it is a difficult personlike at a post office, resturant, hotel etc, I am ashamed to admit I tend to be very sarcastic and mean

I love to leave them thinking they are right, for however long it takes. Then when they find out they are wrong I get all smug. Does that make me difficult. There is actually a whole book about the subject because there are alot of types of difficult people. It is called "How To Handle Difficult People"

There are bad difficult people and good difficult. For the bad ones just ignore them, for the good ones try to understand them.

This is best done by remaining calm and in control of yourself. You must keep your voice well modulated and let nothing cause you to raise your voice. If you raise yours their voice will go that much higher. Never Never Never admit to wrongdoing but do apologize that they had to go through the situation. Ask what you can do and listen to their answer. AT that point put together a plan of action with a contact date that must be adhered to.

If this does not work you must have a superior come to take over.

Difficult in what way? It sure depends on who you're dealing with. Could you be a little more specific?

If you are forced to have to deal with a difficult person, make it seem as if you are on their side...and going along with them all the way.

Otherwise...ignore them.

Have a private looney tunes moment, return to reality, really listen and let them know you've heard them in a way that they understand they've been heard, have another cartoon moment 'cause that probably didn't work, and don't let them get to you personally. Let me know if you come up with something better. Good luck.
