It's up to you really, but i was working as a telemarketing and a student as well. I receive a lot of "rude" people but I understand them because we know that we are annoying but you have to know that WE KNOW WE ARE ANNOYING, but we can't help it because we are being monitored. One time, I was answered by an old lady, and she has no one with her, I spent 4 hours just talking to her. She told me that though Im working my butt off just to earn decent allowance, that i shouldn't give up and just keep on pushing. Well, you can abuse telemarketer if you want but don't abuse abusing telemarketers (make sense?) because you'll just waste your time. If you don't want telemarketers? MEMORIZE THESE WORDS: "TAKE ME OFF YOUR CALLING LIST"

No,they are just doing their job and trying to earn an honest living. A simple "No,thank you, I'm not interested." followed by a quiet hang up is sufficient. If you want to discourage computer generated dialing all together, get one of those little devices that hook into your phone line like the Zapper. Abusing the telemarketer serves no purpose and you know you will hate yourself for it later.

I used to think so until I worked as a telemarketer in college. Most telemarketers hate their job as much as you hate getting their call. Just politely say no and ask for your name to be removed from the list.

Sounds fine fun to me, not to abuse, reallty, but to make sure that I don't get suckered into listening to a spiel that I'm not interested in out of fear of being rude. I don't give them a chance to get started on their sales pitch. I do pity the poor saps trying to make a living at the phone, but I owe them no courtesy except to be polite as I firmly say no and promptly hang up. It's better than wasting either their time or mine for my chance to finally say no them after a five minute speech. Charity drives are the hard ones to deal with, as it make me feel a bit guilty to be so cold to a volunteer for such a cause, but I still tell them that I do not care to make any charitable contributions through telephone solicitaions as I'm politely hanging up.

I'd love to pull off some obnoxious trick such as asking them to hold and then never coming back to the phone, but I'd have a hard time doing that to the poor slob who's got a miserable enough job without my antics.

No its not. Alot of people have to work in telemarketing, because they have no other choice, whats wrong with saying Im not interested, tahnk you. Or can you plz take me off your calling list, i dont want calls from your company. Thats all you have to do. Some ppl do it because its over the phone, and they feel all cool cuz the person can see them, but only puss*ies do it because Out in the street they are not gonna talk like that to someone giving out fliers. So think about it. And you never know when you'll loose your job and will have to be a telemarketer to get by. They usually get paid pretty good.. Like $10 hr or more.

hell, i know people who do it as if it were a competitive sport! it IS kind of mean, it is just their job, after all, but i about died laughing when i heard about my uncle asking the dude on the other end of the line if the windows he was selling would conceal the odor of a dead body!

a few years ago a tornado was headed our way and i was trying to explain to some telemarketer that we were headed for the basement. the jackass was still trying to make his little sale!

Don't be a jerk. They are just people trying to make a living like everyone else. The one to yell at might be their employer for using that method to gain business, but leave the poor telemarketer alone. I used to be one and people were mean. I was just trying to earn money for college.

Yes. Unless we want to live with as many annoying phone calls as SPAM e-mails... It's almost a good citizen's responsibility do EVERYTHING possible to show our feelings about telemarketing and put a stop to this nonsense. It's common sense that if EVERYONE used this disgusting method of advertising... Telephones would ring continuously and be useless. The folks low enough to do it anyway deserve no mercy.

Robbers and dope dealers are only trying to make a living too... They can all go F themselves!!!

No, but it goes both ways. If you tell a telemarketer that you're not interested, they should respect that and not continue to try to sell to you.

I don't think it's alright to abuse anyone. They are invading my home, so if they can't take "no" for an answer, I just hang up on them after I say I'm not interested. I don't consider that abuse. It's my home and my phone though so I don't tolerate it either.
