I think you're taking it too personally. It doesn't mean anything. Sure it would have been better for him to make sure you were safe and inside before he left you. This is something you could ask for on a next date with him. Just say "Would you" and I believe most guys would rather hear "Would you" than "Could you" I can't explain why, its just the way it is, "Would you wait here a moment, until I get into my apartment before you pull away? I'd really appreciate that."
I know you're wanting someone who will make sure you are safe. Most guys can be trained for this, so it really isn't a big deal. I'm not trying to be rude, but give the guy a break, and tell him what you need in a kind way, and even better if you word in a question form like above. If you don't learn how to communicate well with this guy, whose to say how you'll communicate with the next one. You are precious, and yes he should help you feel that way, but the truth is ALL guys suck at making their queens feel like a queen from time to time. And we do communicate very differently.
More than likely he'll give you some kind of clue that he'd be fine with this, if you use the tactic above, especially if you word it close to the way I have, and say it gently, but firmly, and politely.
Now, if he doesn't give a rats ***, AFTER you've asked him, and still pulls away, then yeah, don't date him anymore!

The date didn't go as good as you thought. e had no intention of a second date, because if the date went good and he thought he would want a second date he should have walked you to your door. Even if he knew nothing was going to happen. That is the gentlemen way. You always make sure she in in doors safe before leaving and that goes for any neighborhood!!

Yeah I know what you mean. You are a princess and shouldn't accept anything but subserviance from anyone. I had a similair sitation. I went out with the beautiful girl fro about 4 weeks. She was smart and funny and we were really hitting it off howeverI broke up with her because once when I went to have dinner at her house the plate she served me on had a little bit of dried egg on it. What a ******* lazy whore. I told her she was disrespectful and rude to treat me like that. I'm glad you did that same thing. Who cares if you were having fun, one slip up is all it takes. Who needs that **** right?

i would think his parents didnt teach him better. hell im a girl and i wait to make sure my best friend whose a girl gets in ok and she lives in a really nice area and she does the same for me.
explain to him how uncomfortable it made you feel, maybe he didnt know the area your in is bad. thing is, he should have walked you to the door to make sure you made it there ok. whats a few minutes of time to make a good impression on someone at the end of a good evening. first and last impression counts alot.

Well if you already know you are not going to see him agian, then what do you care what we think? Maybe he was done with you, and had no intentions of seeing you again so he drove off.

It is courtesy, respect, gallant, and polite to walk you to your door and to see you get in and are safe. It is not uncommon that a girl will kiss you goodnight as a way of thanking you.

before you dump him...tell him. Tell him that he was a complete inconsiderate asshole. Tell him that you wouldn't feel safe going out with him to a bowling alley.! Tell him that he is the man that your gay cousin always advised you to look for. Set him straight girl.

This was not gentlemanly. Unfortunately, few parents are teaching chivalrous behavior anymore, and you ladies don't all expect it.
So the guy may have been clueless as to what he was supposed to do.

He needs badly to have his manner taught.
He doesn't know how to treat a nice lady.
He surely doesn't deserve you to be his girlfriend.
Well done, you have made the right decision in not seeing him again.
