A fresh wound inside the mouth can be sutured with absorbable sutures under local anesthesia. If not the wound heals like any other wound , but mouth and lips must be kept surgically clean. This is done by frequent mouth/lip washes with hydrogen peroxide, directly swallowing liquid or semisolid food plus vitamin mineral support. Four weeks is the minimum time needed .

First off there is nothing you can do about a cut on the inside of the mouth. You can't apply stitches there (believe me I work in a pediatric dr. office) However you do need to watch for infection that may require an antibiotic. He could also gargle with salt water for a couple of days.

Use 1tsp of salt to 4 oz of water and mix. Then rinse your mouth out 3 times a day for about a week. if not better by then call your local dentist for an antibiotic.

Your boyfriend may need a couple of sutures but his health care provider will need to assess the injury to know for sure. If he's already rinsed with peroxide, I advise him to discontinue this. This is fine for the first 2 days or so, but after that peroxide kills developing cells. Tell him to keep his mouth as clean as possible, avoid irritating foods/drinks and see his health care provider (not an oral surgeon. LOL!).

Anytime I got a sore in my mouth ie..canker sore My grandma always made me rinse with warm salt water and it worked. I make my kids do it too. It kills the pain in the sore for whatever reason and heals it up. It works!!!! There is also this stuff you can buy over the counter that actually covers the sore inside your mouth with a thin film. It's called Kanka or canka. Follow the directions.

Why didn't he see a doctor immediately or at least a first aid person? He probably needed stitches when it happened, too late now. Your mouth tends to heal very quickly on its own, but if it doesn't close very soon he should get a medical opinion.

owwcch ! he may need antibiotic if its inflamed. could he rinse with salt water (he is a man so maybe not) he may need something to dill the pain while its healing, the likes onf bonjella, but you would have to check if its ok to put on a open wound. Keep rinsing with cold fresh water. Dont be messing with it, alternatively, go the drs if its really bad.

First, go to the doctor. Sounds like stitches are needed.
The mouth is the fastest healing part of the body.
