Ok. Here goes. Are people in the US just better than the rest of the world since the majority of Christians are in the US and the Christians are the only ones going to heaven? Is it something in our DNA that makes us so holy? Are we God's chosen people? There's got to be something the US that makes people see the light.

People have a seriously hard time detecting sarcasm on Yahoo! answers. Do you think a Christian being earnest would really sound this dumb? I'm trying to get an answer from Christians.

Ok so let me get this straight CHRISTIANS are the only ones going to heaven. So if Jeffrey Dahmer was a Christian would he go? There is nothing in our DNA that makes us Holy its what we believe or what is PUSHED on us by the church. There are countless numbers of priests and "holy" men that hurt children in "gods" house so will they go to heaven? Bottom line is there is a god because we have been lead to believe that there is one. Someone long ago wrote the "Bible" and we all think that it is the all knowing! God is up there somewhere and he will judge and deem who will go where. US as Americans are no darn better than any other race creed or color from any country. We just have the bigger bombs and a decent government!

Wow - where to begin......? The only thing I can say is that this country was founded on the premise of religious freedom. Perhaps that's why so many are here. However - the Bible says that the Jews are God's chosen people, and even though I am Christian - I do believe that they are still God's chosen people. I sense though that this question was fascitious and you were really just wanting to get a "rise" out of people. If that is the case - good luck with that.

Thats a Doozie.

It is just that type of attittude that began the Crusades. I am all for people and thier various ways to love GOD. But the very same people who profess faith (in any religion) and begin wars seem to omit the *God being all powerful* part. They take the "Power" in thier own hand- and GOD is perfect, not humans- And so the humans are swayed by greed, politics, power, or whatever.

I wish that mankind could take up the idea that there is something/one bigger than us controlling the gameboard-- HONESTLY. Not just saying they believe that and REALLY TRULY believe that. Otherwise... religion is just a tool for someone who is not faithful to act the role and steer the sheep.

Sorry for the rant... but I am passionate about this subject.
To the point... no. I do not think that the US's "Holiness" is the reason that we don't live like the rest of the world.
I DO however think that Americans seduce others by giving them enough rope to hang themselves.

Where did you think Americans originated from? By the way most of south America are Christians, same with Canada and Europe and plenty of countries in between. So who is Better? Gee didn't the white Americans come from Europe? Gross your DNA is really made up up Germans and Brits, Swedes, dutch etc. I guess Europeans are the true ones huh? Get Real. Gods chosen people were originally the Israelites, now many people believe that his chosen people are however believes that he is the true Holy Father who came to die for our salvation. So I guess that makes a little of every nation, Gods chosen.

The Gospel was first given to the jews and then the gentiles. It's interesting to note that there are large revivals of Christianity in some 3rd world countries and China has so many new converts to christianity there is a shortage of bibles (1 to share between every 5 believers).
I'm an Australian and there's plenty of us here. I guess you can't generalise. Not all people who claim to be christian are true converts either. Race is irrelevant. The important thing is having repented and turned to Jesus and not being too prideful as to try and be perfect in your own right - its impossble.

People in the U.S certainly are not better than the rest of the
world. I am a 4th generation American and loathe the christian
sheep. I can't stand the brainwashing of organized religion.
However, I am not an athiest. Unfortunately, I feel overpowered
by the hippocracy of Christianity and just hope that other
countries know not all Americans agree with the rude, cocky
self-righteous majority we seem to have here.

No, people in the US aren't better than anyone else in the world. God is not a respector of persons.
The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7

There's alot of Christians in America, but there are alot of Christians all over the world.

I believe that God has people everywhere. Sure, we've been blessed. I don't take it lightly that our freedom of beliefs played a significant part in our knowing about God at all, but God has blessed others as well. We might not see them featured in magazines or neon lights, but God's people are blessed in the sheer knowledge of Him (Proverbs 16:16). As far as the US being the light; the only light that the US or anyone REALLY has is Jesus. (Psalms 36:9; John 14:6)

Yes, your question is "mind-blowing". Not in a sense that it's a good question, but because there's no truth to any of it. The reason for our prosperity is the fact that we are free, not because we are mostly Christians. Look at the Philippines. They are 90% Christians, but is one of the most corrupt and least prosperous countries in Asia.

It blew my mind how ignorant these questions come across. I suggest you meet with a priest or better yet a rabbi and get a little broader perspective on life and religion. You makes some assumptions that are very naive. Maybe you need a team of psychiatrists and religious figures to set you straight...good luck!
