I rent a 2 story townhouse. A pipe drain pipe broke and maintence finally fixed it 1 week later. Well ,they wanted to patch the hole in my cieling the next day. I told them no- it needs to dry..

Well, I take the light off on the ceiling and it's pretty bad with mildew. I cant imange the top of the ceiling.....

My question: Knowing this- am i able to request a look in the basement- legally do they have to grant me access?

I know they never go into the basement- and a window has been opened for weeks.......

I am concerened that if this is how they operate- they really dont care. I have a heater aimed toward the hole in my ceiling.....

F'n idiots....

You don't say where you live, so I don't know how hot it gets, but when I lived in New Orleans, I ran a dehumidifier for a long period of time (several weeks) when a leak happened from rain in one of my closets. The problem with already having mildew showing is bad, and you should tackle that immediately with a mildew cleaner or one with bleach. If you're renting, I don't understand why the owners aren't more concerned about the damage from mildew and/or the health concerns. It is not something to let go--you have to aggressively fight it. I'd also
blow a fan at the area. I'm not sure about the basement--is that the property of the owner? You ought to contact him/her and relate what has happened.

well talk to your lanlord. if the lanlord doesnt to make repairs, get the mildew out, drag the lanlord to court, if they are helping you when you need the help, they shouldnt be a lanlord. you need to drag their asses to court and sue them for repairing your aptt. as a lanlord they are required to keep up the repairs.

and if it continues, look for another town house some where else. make sure that you find a place that is up to date in codes and is clean. it is their responsibility to have to the apt cleaned before any body moves in! and yes you should. if they arent helping you get out!
