i think its very narrow minded to drag people who study about stuff into their level, just to disprove evolution.

"the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance" there is no space for science in that definition of religion.

i think christians label evolution a "just another religion or cult" to make it sound really un believable... like magic...

and they cant see why: "poof! and there was light, and animals and trees" sound sillier

Annoying is an understatement! The two are quite opposite for certain. The purpose when it concerns evolution is to get a pseudo-scientific version of Genesis creation myths taught along with evolution in science classes. That's like teaching astrology with astronomy, alchemy with chemistry, numerology with mathematics, etc. In each case, the first member of the pair is outmoded fantasy, but the second is the latest knowledge. Such insistence upon teaching nonsense is putting the USA behind other countries in science. That is BAD!

Actually this happen when some of the holy books in our planet talk about science more than 50%. And the science significantly proven by today technology. But some of the science inside holy books are far advance than our technology now. So we need to wait before a new tools can prove the science.

Example "al-Quran"

Sometimes people seem to defend it as if they have faith in it. That is, when I bring up some facts, like the fact that science has brought us atomic and hydrogen bombs, some people get really defensive. Why? It is just the truth of the matter.

A lot of times when people are speaking of science, they are implying that it is all good--that it is the higher truth, the purer thing. Forgetting--or ignoring--that some truly awful things have been brought about by physicists and engineers. People sometimes defend "science"--which is a complex, multifaceted field--by refusing to acknowledge things like weapons of mass destruction, brought to you by your friendly neighborhood scientists.

Why get defensive? I'm not making a moral judgment. Just talking about the history of invention, discovery, and whatnot.

(I'm not talking about you personally, brother; I'm just trying to answer your question using some of my experience with people who seem to have a faith-based approach to science.)

Evolution is not science, never has been, never will be. It cannot be tested using scientific methods. I cannot be tested, retested, falsified nor observed. It is based on faith and evidence. Creation is the same, we base our beliefs on the evidence. The weight of the known evidence is clearly in the creation camp. Evolution is a belief system, a world view, a religion.

Yes. They are completely different and unrelated.

As a Hindu teacher I listened to once said, "Science explores the natural world and provides explanations of it. Religion explores the spiritual world and provides explanations of it."

It does seem to be an insult to science and rationality to call science a superstition. but, I guess it helps them feel better about their superstition to do so.
