If she's not familiar with cooking yet, might I suggest starting off with something real easy.
My daughter who is 13 makes meatloaf using the recipe on the back of Lipton Onion Soup box. I have some recipes on my 360 Blog. Come visit. Have her try the Apple Crisp recipe.

This is a really good dessert or breakfast food.
Mini Pineapple Upside Down Cakes
1 can of refrigerator biscuits
1 stick of butter
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1 small can of crushed pineapple (drain the juice and save it)
Maraschino cherries (optional)
Preheat oven as per the biscuit can instructions.
You will need a muffin pan.
Melt the butter in the microwave, then add in sugar, pineapple and stir. Drop about a tablespoon of this mixture in bottom of each muffin cup. (Put your cherry in at this time too in the center)
put a biscuit on top of this mixture in each muffin cup. Take a teaspoon of the pineapple juice and drizzle over the biscuit and then put in the oven to bake.
Bake according to the biscuit can directions. Take out and flip over onto a platter to let cool. These are the cutest, yummiest little cakes in the world. You can put them on the plate in a circle or on an individual dessert plate. Hope you enjoy.

Well, let's see...sometimes I buy the packaged pudding at the store, and make it at home. All you need is like two cups of milk, and the package of pudding. Then you stir it up until it thickens.
Spaghetti is also an easy recipe...all you need to buy is the package of spaghetti noodles, and the sauce; you put the noodles in a pot of water, boil it, then add the spaghetti. It should boil for about twenty minutes, and then you drain the spaghetti and add the sauce. Usually I'll just buy the Chef-Boy-Ardee in a can, it tastes a little better.

How about a super easy cassarole....buy the frozen mixed veggies (greenbeans, corn, carrots, lima beans), put them in a dish and mix in a can of cream of chicken (with a little water), then mix in some chicken slices (you can even buy those prepackaged if you want). Salt & Pepper, add some shredded cheese (optional) and buy the bisquick ready made (I use the garlic & cheese one)..mix that in a seperate bowl and thin it out with water a little bit so that it will spread easier. Spread the bisquick on top. Then that's it. Pop it in the oven for about 40-60 minutes @ 350 degrees and voila...insta meal.

Here's an easy veggie dip recipe:
2/3 cup sour cream
2/3 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
1 tablespoon instant onion flakes
1 tablespoon dried dill weed
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
(the parsley, onion flakes, and dill weed are all spices in a jar - the dry mustard comes in a can...do NOT use regular mustard)
Mix all ingredients together and chill at least one hour. Serve with broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, and celery.
An easy dessert recipe is this Hershey pie:
6 bars (1.35 oz size) Hershey bars with almonds
16 large marshmallows
1/2 cup milk
1 cup whipping cream (8 ounces)
1 ready-made graham cracker crumb pie shell
Ready-Whip Whipped Cream (optional)
Melt candy and marshmallows in milk in top of double boiler (A double boiler is 2 pots in one...the bottom pot holds water while the top pot holds your ingredients. If you don't have one, you can create one by using 2 separate pots...one a little larger than the other for the bottom pot. This type pot is used to help prevent your ingredients from sticking.)
Cool the candy mixture. Beat cream and fold into chocolate mixture. Pour into crust and refrigerate at least 3 hours before serving. Top (at time of serving) with whipped cream.
I think your mom's lucky to have a young lady like yourself who wants to learn how to cook. (^@^)

get some chicken... boneless, dip the pieces into eggs, then dip them into breadcrumbs. Then fry the chicken in a frying pan that has oil in it. Make sure to keep flipping them so they don't burn. Make sure the chicken is cooked well. Put on paper towels when done, to get out excess oil. Then, get a baking pan, put some Ragu sauce in the bottom. Add the chicken you cooked. Then more sauce. Cook at 350 degrees for 20 mins... then add a layer of cheese ( I prefer American cheese), then put back in over until cheese is melted. POOF ! You've got chicken parm. If you boil pasta for 10 mins, drain and add more sauce, then you've got chicken parm and pasta on the side. Wickkkkkkkkeddddddddddd yummy.
