They brainwashed countless children into protesting smoking. But do a few cigarettes really kill you? No. It takes decades of smoking for it to build up. Now I don't smoke, but as a child I believed one cigarette would get me addicted according to all those anit-smoking ads, and that's not true. They got me young just like religion did.

Very true, I don't see where the question is but I will comment anyway.

Religion is the some way as the drug campaigns. They also tell you that marijuana is a gateway drug to other hardcore narcotics. This is not true either. I smoked marijuana much of my teenage years as well as many of my friends. We have all grown up and stopped smoking marijuana and none of us ever tried any other drugs. As far as religion goes, they use fear to accomplish the devotion they seek from followers. A child is very gullible and they take advantage of that to make them fear not accepting they religion their parents have chosen. I myself am lucky enough to not fall subject to that brainwashing technique and have developed a mind of my own. For many, this is not true. It is sad that organized religions feel the need to CONVINCE children into believing what they do and not actually let the kids make their own decision when they are ready too.

Well, D.A.R.E is meant to keep kids off drugs and out of trouble in general. It is meant as a way to keep kids active usually in the summer time so they won't get bored and want to experiment with drugs. And no, it doesn't take decades of smoking for it to kill you, it varies on the person, how much they smoke, the type of cigarettes they smoke and their lifestyle while smoking. Second hand smoke can kill a non smoker just as easily.

I only perceive one question here. Even one lit cigarette can kill you, if you are soaked in gasoline for instance. d:c) It is rather recent that cigarette smoking has declined in the U.S. and this has mostly been the result of government education or brainwashing. Nicotine is highly addictive and people often become long-term addicts after only a couple of packs. But to answer your question directly, a few cigarettes smoked carefully followed by a lifetime of abstinence from cigarettes is highly unlikely to kill anyone.

Oh, there is a God. Thanks for saying that....been thinking the same thing for years. It is classic brainwashing and goes on every day. I heard or read today they are doing the same thing with this global warming melting ice caps thing....all to scare everyone into thinking it is happening in their lifetime, etc. It is all a lot of propaganda by NASA or who ever to create another industry or keep one going on forever.

That's not what they told me in the DARE program. They just called cigarettes drugs (as well as alcohol and actual drugs). Unless I just don't remember....10 years is a long time.

They should have DARE for fast food in schools now. Eating that stuff is just as bad as cigarettes. Oh yeah, and godisimaginary.com

This isn't a question, but a statement. Worse, it's a statement that really says nothing.
