I ask her all the time what I normally do when she just simply tells me the truth, she always answers "nothing" She's 11, she really hasn't done anything crazy yet besides sneaking snacks. We have 2 other children and they think it is very "unfair" that my 11 year old gets 2 snacks and they only get one. I just don't know what I can do to stop it. It drives me nuts.

A trip with mom to her bedroom for a good spanking.

It worked with my 11 year old. Lying destroys the fabric of a family.

How about the next time you catch her lying, she doesn't get any snack? Give her saltines instead of the good snack. Let there be a consequence for her dishonesty. No snacks for a week should cure something. Everytime you catch her in a lie, take away something she enjoys and don't give it back for 2 weeks. that should get her attention. YOU HAVE TO BE CONSISTENT, STRONGER WILLED THAN HER. LET HER KNOW WHO'S BOSS. You need to bring her to church and teach her that lying is a sin. Also you need to never let her see you lie about ANYTHING. So she will know that it is never ok.

well i may be off base here but just think about it for a minute. she could be doing this for attention(not saying you don't give her any) but when she sneaks the snakes then she has every ones attention on her because they are mad or scolding for lying and taking the snacks. maybe tell her if she does well and doesn't hide or steal the snacks and lie about things maybe on a special day she will have her own extra snack or privilege. hope i could help good luck, lanay

get rid of the snacks and only buy them when you are rewarding good behavior. that behavior can lead to something more serious a lie is a lie .take thing from her let her know that you are serious. strip her room down . just dont let it go because eventually she'll try to push you to see what else she can get over with and then your other kids will pike up on that behavior cut it off now before its too late

Why do you have snacks in the house at all? Get rid of them and replace them with fruit, celery and peanut butter sticks, carrot sticks, raisins and other healthy food. If she lies about other things you need to put her on restriction.

There's a reason she doesn't trust you. Look at your actions when she tells you things you don't like. And, try to establish trust from her. I know how I was at that age and a little older. Being able to talk completely open with my Mom would have lead me to better decision making.

You have tried to reason to her but failed.
I always believe in the old sayings "spare the rod spoil the child".
It always remains a proper way to raise children.
Let them know if you behave badly you will be punished.
And if you do well you will be rewarded.
This also reflects your fairness to your children.

Make her a system of honest. If she lies, she loses things, like TV, computer etc. If she tells the truth and does chores you give her rewards.

Be sure you are not INTERROGATING or asking incriminating questions. Reward her for telling the truth. Let her know that if she does something wrong, but tells the truth you will not be MAD.
