Your problem has nothing to do with Word Perfect - that happens most often when you accidentally tap the touchpad while typing - I do it all the time - which is why I use a mouse whenever possible instead, disabling the trackpad.
WordPerfect is a fine program.
If you want to try something else that's free, consider OpenOffice - it's a great product that's 100% free and opens both Word and Wordperfect files (as well as Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint documents, and Access Databases).

I've never had any major problems with Corel and I've been using Wordperfect since it was "Wordstar", that was back in the '80's. The main problem I have found is that, since Corel is a seperate program from Windows, not everyone has it on thier computer. I have sent attachments made in Corel, which couldn't be read by the recipient, then had to redo them in Word so they could read them.
Other than that I think Corel is the best thing going, provided it is Wordperfect 10 and not 12. Corel kinda blew it when they "upgraded" to 12.

It was a while ago, but I also used Corel WordPerfect. That problem sounds familiar, but I can't remember exactly. Generally, I was happy with Corel WordPerfect - I'm pretty sure that Corel is the number one word processor (behind Microsoft???). At least it used to be the standard among businesses.

I absolutely hate Corel products. I bought a dell which comes with Corel products. I ended up having to purchase Microsoft Office. It's so much easier to use and understand.
