My daughter is in 8th grade which is in Jr. High. 9th grade is in High School. Some of her friends have been asked to the homecoming dance. Do you think it is wize to let an 8th grader attend a high school dance?

I probably wouldn't let my daughter go.

While the 9th grader that asked her is only a year older, there will be upper classmen there. I would not want my girl the object of attention from 17 and 18 year olds at that age.

If it was strictly a 9th grade dance, then I wouldn't care. Maybe even freshmen and sophomores, but not with juniors and seniors.

No! I would no way in the world let my daughter attend a high school dance. Its bad enough they have to attend high school with 18 year old men. I'm sorry I am so against the 14-15 year old girls being aroud them 18 year old molesters.

Only if a parent is driving them and picking them up. Make sure that your daughter has a cell phone just in case and tell her that if she feels like a situation is weird or uncomfortable then to say that "I need to go home, I forgot my mom wanted me home by *blank* time and that is like 15 minutes from now!" You could also see about being an adult chaperone at the dance, schools ALWAYS need more adaults at dances.

NO!!!!! in today's highly charged sexual environment she would be too easily talked/dared into some very grown up activities...she is much too young..give her another year build a closer relationship between you...teach her it is alright to say no and call you for the ride home if need be! teach her why she should say no to involvement in questionable activity...give her the self confidence to be strong enough on her own to make smart decisions

Yeah i think that it is important to let them socialize with different people. If she is confident and excited and wants to go then you let her. Thats not to say you shouldnt set rules. But give her a chance. If there are others going tell them so stay together or look out for one another. I think its really important to promote a good social life for young people. I was always shy, i wish i had the confidence she has when i was 13. Let her go just make sure she is responsible and can make good decisions for herself.

Yes. Most freshmen are 14. she's only 1/2 a year from that age. No difference. I lied, it's a difference. But there is supervision and as long as you know who, what, when, where, and how. She should be okay.
