The best way is to immerse yourself in the new time zone straight away. So if you arrive somewhere and it feels like bedtime but is actually mid-afternoon, resist the urge to go to sleep! Force yourself to stay awake until the night and you should find you don't get jet lag. I've done several long haul flights and have never had more than a minor problem by following this approach.

Much good advice in the above, but it really is down to fitting in to your new time zone and that usually means sleep and getting 'on track' where you are - getting on the same wavelength as those around you - heck if the leaders of the world could only do that!

Sleep it off. If you wanna avoid it, try not to sleep during the flight if you'll be arriving in the evening. Or at least wake up 2 hours before landing. If you'll be arriving in the morning/afternoon, try your best to sleep during the flight. Don't eat a lot of carbs, drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol.

The answer to this is to stop thinking you have anything. Just relax, when you feel tired, take a nap. if you are with company excuse yourself, then go lay down somewhere - close your eyes - relax and the 5 min. will make a difference. let your body take control.

I agree with Phil. Also, researchers have said that sunlight is the key to helping beat Jetlag. When you body is aware that the sun is still up it helps adjust your body clock.
