I'm not christian, but i do believe in god. There has never been any scientific study that god doesn't exsist. No experiments have are currently going on right now either.

I don't believe in god becuase of lack of proof. I believe because everything is too perfect and something had to make everything work the way it does. I also believe in a god because everything had to start out somehow. I do not believe god is omnipotent or allmighty.

I cannot say, "There is proof there is no deity." This would be false.

However, most holy texts (among them the big one, the Torah, which knocks down Judiasm, Christianity, and Islam), have demonstratable scientific errors or archeological errors. This proves the refutability of the text and since it is the sole authoritative source of the particular god it represents, it effectively disproves that deity (I admit, this is a simplification, but I consider it sufficent to disprove even one aspect of a holy text to disprove any and all religions which hold it innerrant).

I've never seen any Atheist claim there is proof God doesn't exist. It's a logical impossibility.

The standard Atheist position starts from a system of agnosticism: there is no proof that any gods exist.

From there, there are several ways to take the argument:

1. Therefore, I claim no knowledge of God's existence currently; or
2. Nor could any such certain knowledge exist; or
3. And the question is meaningless, since "God" is indefineable; or
4. Therefore I take the default position that there is no God; or
5. And I believe that there is no God.

The first is "Weak Agnosticism". The second is "Strong (or Affirmative) Agnosticism." The third is "Ignosticism." The Fourth is "Weak Atheism," and the fifth is "Strong Atheism."

None claim certain knowledge of the non-existence of gods. At the strongest, they claim a belief and that there is no evidence to the contrary.

The definition of god usually has something like: "there is no way that there could not be a god that created all of this". That is anything but a definition. It is an ignorant attempt to proove that he exists. A true thinker would never use an abstract theory as part of a definitive definition.

I don't say that. I just say that I don't believe in a god - any god. I have no interest in proving non-existence or existence. I get annoyed by anyone that claims they have proof of non-existence and then spout off anecdotal "data" based on casual observation, and I get annoyed with pro-god "proofs" that are just scripture or "just because" arguments.

You substantiate your belief in God by saying there is no proof he doesn't exist. The problem with that argument is that reasonable people do not base their world view upon disproving things, rather it is based upon proving things. Therefore I challenge you to present proof of God's existence. Better yet, prove to me any supreme being of any name exists. You can't do it. There's your answer.

Science and theism are two seperate religions. (Yes, I mean to say that science is a religion). Trying to prove the existence or nonexistence of God is like trying to study astronomy with a magnifying glass. They are two seperate systems, neither of which will triumph over the other any time soon. Any one (atheist or otherwise) who claims to have *proof* that God does/doesn't exist, is simply bull sh*tting themselves.

To attempt a proof or disproof of something, you first need to define it in a consistent way. If it can't be defined in a meaningful way, that is the disproof.

Numerous gods fall into this category, in particular, all the creator gods.

That's right... there's no definitive proof that god doesn't exist.... but there is certainly sufficient evidence (or, non-evidence) to arrive at the reasoned conclusion that belief in god is stupid and irrelevant... just like belief in Thor, pink unicorns, Santa and the Bogeyman... the existence of which ALSO cannot be definitively proven.

You cannot prove God exists.
Conversely, you cannot prove that God does not exist.
People have to be more rigit with their vocabulary.
We can be convinced God exists or does not.
THERE IS NO PROOF EITHER WAY!
