He's a huge dog. He comes up and scares the buhjeebers out of my cat, pees on my front porch and poops in my yard. This lovely neighbor of mine puts him on a leash, then lets him go running in the neighborhood, trailing the leas behind him so he looks like he got loose. I've watched her do this repeatedly. Tonight she was walking him off leash and didn't make him get out of my yard even when I went outside and yelled at the dog myself. She just stared at me like I was the jack@ss. This is incredibly frustrating, and I would appreciate your thoughts as to how to handle this situation? Thank you.

Just for fun, I pulled up Minnesota's state statutes. Notice it states not only is it a misdeamenor to throw dog poo on the highway, but also "upon any public or privately owned land adjacent thereto without the owner's consent."

My guess is that similar laws apply to your city and state. Print out a copy of the statutes, and anonymously place it on her front porch or car hood with a bag of doggie doo used as a paperweight. Unless she's a total moron, she'll get the hint. She will never know you did it, either, unless you have to call the cops when she does it again. And believe me, I would.

Research the animal control laws in your community. Find out if dogs must be either walked on a leash or kept in the owner's yard. Most areas will require some form of owner responsibility or the dog will be considered at-large and can be impounded.
With that information, talk to your neighbor and ask her to please contain her dog to her property and cite the law to her and tell her someone else's dog in the area was impounded because the dog was running loose, (small fib) but it might work. If not, call animal control and report the owner.

I used to have a neighbor who walked her dog on the leash over to my yard every morning to take his dump. I politely went to her door, and informed her I didn't appreciate it, as I had nephews coming over that played in the yard, and felt they shouldn't have to deal with that.

She politely informed me that she THOUGHT it was an empty lot (since we had a double wide lot), and informed me she wouldn't do it again... and she didn't.

Sometimes politeness and common sense go a long way. Try the nice approach first. Then if that doesn't work, find out the laws of the city/state/county you're in and take action.

As a last resort, get downright dirty, and try dumping it on her porch/car, etc.

I had this problem myself before. I asked the neighbor, several times, very nicely, not to let her dogs poop in my yard. At first she did nothing, then she started picking it up, at least, and then she stopped picking it up. One day she came to the door, her dogs in tow. I opened the door, and just then one of her dogs was pooping in the yard with her standing right there. This time, after asking nicely literally 20 times, I lost my temper and screamed at her to get off my property with her dogs, and not to come over here again with or without the dogs, if I caught the dogs pooping in the yard again I would call the town. She hasn't talked to me since. I also have a clean yard. Nice just dosen't work with some people.

Try yelling at her. Her dog is just doing what it's allowed to. It's possible she's breaking the law by letting her dog run wild. Another option is to actually gather her dog's poo and deliver it back to her - on her doorstep. - however to do this you need to be prepared for her to start a war.

Clearly she doesn't hink she's doing anything wrong. Take photos - film it even and then get the local authorities to fill you in on if there's laws that have been broken and if so which one.
Try to photograph her letting the creature off leash...
Good luck!

No need for the police, no need to even be present. Go down to the local hardware store and request a motion sensing lawn sprinkler. They're awesome! If anything sets off the motion sensor, it releases the water pressure through an ordinary water sprinkler. The dogs either love the water and play in it and get soaking wet, or they hate it and refuse to go on the lawn. Either way, the owner won't continue bringing the dog to your little spot of lawn, they hate letting a wet dog in the house.

I had the same problem...And as cruel as it sounds, i scooped up the dog poo, which was as much as a cow pile, and i threw it over in their driveway....when that didnt work, I shoveled it up and threw it on theit car, just on the windshirld, and on the drives side door handle.... Like I said, i know this sounds like a cruel thing to do, but, it isnt nice of the neighbor to let their dogs run free... If you do not want to do this call your local humane society and see if there is a leash law in your county.... And if this fails, purchase a B/B gun and fill it with salt...pump it up till you cant pump it anymore and dust the dogs hide...it wont kill him or hurt him just sting his hide and it will keep him away...... Best Of Luck

If you've got the balls,I will tell you what i would do.((keep in mind I am a nice guy UNLESS CROSSED )) If her dog ,or any dog for that matter poops on your lawn, simply give it back .You can toss it on her lawn or porch or you can even bag it and politely take it to her " Pardon me but you forgot this." I'm more the front porch type myself. Basically if she has to deal with it, your front yard will no longer be a 'convenient ' place for he dog to poop. Plan (B) Sprinklers.

Oh, how aggrevating.
As hard as it might be, I'd reccomend trying first to make peace. Ask her over, sit down over some snacks and relate your problem diplomatically. Be civil as long as you can, and don't get riled up. If she persists in being an inconsiderate asswipe, consider getting some higher authority involved. After all, her "property" (term used as loosely as possible) is trespassing on your privately owned land and basically vandalizing it. You have the right to your own - unpooped on - land.

Call Animal control. They usually have a Police Officer who cites people who don't pick up after their dogs. There are leash laws also. It is common courtesy. You could collect the crapola and put it back in her yard where it belongs.........after a couple months.
