Well actually as of right now I have osteopenia, very close to osteoporosis. I was diagnosed about a month ago & since then I have been taking at least 1500 mg of calcium a day to try & rebuild the lost bone mass.

Im only 25 & this was caused by the depo-provera, birth control shot, prolonged use of it anyways...8 years. Doc said if I didnt get off the shot & start taking calcium supplements I would be crippled in 10 years. Osteoporosis is usually in old people.

They say it can be reversed, but how long will it take to get the bone back, & does it always reverse?? Have you ever heard of someone so young having it?

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED, I have been diagnose with several things in the past that "i am too young for", so Im kind of worried.

there are medications that can help rebuild/replace bone loss, I don't know if the condition warrants that yet or not, something to discuss with your Dr. I would think aside from the supplements, diet would be a good start...be careful with the exercise thing until your bones get stronger. I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis about a year ago, I am 10 years older than you, mine was induced by prolonged corticosteroid use. I would not panic yet, since you are not full blown there is a lot of hope for reversal and age is on your side as well...talk to your Dr about other options and check out alternative therapies as well. Try looking up Homeopathic remedies on the Internet (www.1800homeopathy.com is a good one) Good luck!

I strongly suggest you go see an orthopedic specialist who specializes in the health and diseases of the bones.

There are three different medications out that are for bone restoration. Two of them you take once a week on an empty stomach and wait 30 minutes before eating or drinking anything. The other is once a month and you wait 60 minutes. All have to be prescribed by a physician.

Osteopenia is NOT osteorporosis, but people of all ages can suffer from both diagnosis. Genetics plays a large roll.

Exercise like mild weight lifting, body pump, is very good to stregnthen the bones. Not only do you need the calcium supplements, but you need to monitor your dietary calcium intake. Many studies sugget that the amount of milk a child drank has a direct impact on bone health.

I strongly suggest you go to www.webmd.com and read about both diagnosis and then make that appointment with the bone specialist. When you go take a written history of all the medications you can remember you have taken and why, plus surgeries, and other health issues.

Good luck.

1 Do not put to much pressure on your bones right away.

2 Your body needs vitamin D to absorb calcium, just calcium by itself will not be enough. Consume lots of vitamin D and then calcium.

3 Take Hyaluronic Acid to make your week bones lubed to prevent seriously hurting yourself while your getting ready to excessive.

4 After taking these the kings for defeating osteopenia for a solid month, begin excersizing for 10 minutes a day. 1 day on arms, one day on legs. Then move to 15 min then 20 min. Up to, 2 hours.

The idea is to ratate the excersize where you will need it most, your legs and your arms. Once you have finished a day with your arms with light weights, then you can walk the next day. Do not work the same units arms or legs more than one day in a row.

While your in the excersize phase do not stop taking the 3 kings!

Hope this helps!

It can be reversed, especially if you found the cause of it.
You are young enough to build back up the density.
And currently if all the natural things fail, there is a medication to reverse Osteoporsis.

Check out the symptoms link on www.hufa.org. If your "things you are too young for" are on that list, then hypoglycemia (one of the conditions caused by hyperinsulinemia) may be part of the cause.

I know Depo-Provera flipped me from hypoglycemia into diabetes.
