How much space does the Pilot have to move around? Is it tight and compact or can you spread out a little bit?

I'm working on a speech and I'd just like to personalize it a little bit.

Also, if you have gotten close to one what is the sound like?
I've seen/heard f-15s f-16s and f-22s so I know about what a Jet sounds like.

Thanks!

He is a Blogger who is an Active Duty Navy Captain (O-6) who is an F/A-18 Hornet Pilot.

He has a LOT of stories about flying the Hornet and may even email you if you contact him and tell him what it is you need.
if you get a chance. read his story called "Rhythms" that you will find on his site.

If you have seen those other aircraft, you already have a pretty good idea of what it is like inside the cockpit of an FA-18. It is pretty compact in there. The arrangement of the displays and some of the controls will be different but the overall "feel" of sitting in there will be the same.

It's a fast efficient surgical machine.
NOT your everyday office cubicle.

wasted space = wasted gas = wasted money
