go to steves-digicams.com for research, find the model that you like, check on pricegrabber or some such comparision site and research the seller if possible. Check their BBB ratings, return policies, shipping costs, taxes etc. There are a lot of shady sellers online so be careful. Some recommended sites are onecall.com, vanns.com, amazon.com, buy.com (buy and AMZ are very slow at times), bhphotovideo.com, abesofmaine.com, adorama.com apart from the brick and mortar ones like bestbuy, staples, circuitcity, officemax, officedepot, sears, etc.

55 pixels wouldn't even make an avatar. But the "knob on the end" means you're looking at a high-end camera. I don't think there is one for that low a price, at 5.5 megapixels. Quality lenses have that focus ring, and quality lenses is what makes a camera cost a lot. It also makes for great pictures.
