The bible instructs that those who wear clothing of mixed fabrics are sinners and should be punished in accordance with god's law. My neighbor, Mrs Hughes, recently bought a cotton/polyester blend sweater. I know I'm supposed to kill her but I really like her. Does god really require that I take her life?

You are taking scripture out of context. Stop the bible thumping drum in your head and get some sound teaching. Well, if you take the bible literally at heart. It sounds like an old testament teaching. Nonetheless, I believe it is nonsense since the jews were used to uniformity way back in the day.

Why would you? Are you and your neighbor part of the 12 tribes of Israel under the covenant of Moses? You are talking about a law which has been obsolete since the death of Jesus on the cross. No one is under that law any longer, it was fulfilled.
