They bark a LOT, they spin in circles, they are very hard to housebreak, and they can be nippy with children and strangers.

Before you get any dog, do some reading! These are the books that I recommend to my students; you can get them on Amazon.com
What All Good Dogs Should Know – Volhard http://www.volhard.com/
Good Owners, Great Dogs - Brian Kilcommins
Dog Tricks : Eighty-Eight Challenging Activities for Your Dog from World-Class Trainers by Haggerty and Benjamin
Don't Shoot the Dog - Pryor
Training Your Dog: The Step by Step Method - Volhard
Dog Problems - Benjamin
Cesar's Way - Cesar Millan
Also, watch the Dog Whisperer on the National Geographic Channel. Cesar Millan is the best trainer I've ever seen on TV.

Mini pins are extremely intelligent, alert, and vocal. The can jump incredibly high fences, or barriers. On the other hand, they are also warm, sweet, protective and make extremely loyal companions. I wouldn't trade mine for the world.

they are a trip. i have a 3 year old min pin named pepper. and man, she was not a good girl. then i was in jail for 1 month 15days(and for nothing bad, completing driving classes, i didn't) and the jail thing was like 2 months ago from today. and ever since i left the house, i really think pepper thought it was for her being a bad girl. and now, (and since I've been back----GOOD GIRL!!) then that just makes me think that min pins are actually smarter than people think

My red Min Pin, Sarge, is a dear!
And he's nutzo!

I think of him as the "Don Knotts" of doggies! Very nervous.
He was turned into my Mom's animal shelter after his owner was charged for animal cruelty - gross neglect.

When I asked my Vet if this awful neglect had, probably,
caused his "high-strung" ways. Nope. She said, "It could,
but many of these little guys are just like this!"

Still, I love my Sarge. We have 2 larger, much saner dogs. But, Sarge has a sweet nature, and just "walked into my heart"
He's real affectionate, but just to a few people. Doesn't like crowds much.

He also eats everything he can grab! Cat food is one of his favs.
Consequently, I now refer to him as my purebred Bratwurst!

Now, go get your very own Sarge!
