Does he like dogs/puppies if hes truly thinks puppies are cute then yah its a compliment. dont be so hard on him Remember god gave men 2 heads and only enough blood to operate one at a time. So theres always a 50/50 chance that hes thinking with the wrong one!

To me, a golden retriever is the most beautiful thing to have. I've had 3 over the years and I'd gladly take them over most of the girlfriends I've had. Of course that would seriously limit the amount of affection I'd get... (Of course I'm not sick like that) anyway, I'd say that's a compliment. It might sound bad, but he's definitely trying to compliment you in a cute way without being all stalker weird. I can't believe I just used the word cute...Look what you're doing to me!

I honestly think he meant it as a compliment. Even if he said, "Yer pertier than a hog that fell in the troft" that still could be a compliment.

He is not calling you a dog. Just think this guy is so head over heals for you that he can't keep his thoughts straight and just says the first thing that comes to mind. Be paitient and give him sometime to relax and you will be happy with the choice.
