You don't have panic attacks while you're sleeping. You probably fell asleep on your arm and it went to sleep. As for waking up hot, there's alot more that needs to be known about you to determine whether or not that was normal. Are you male or female? How old are you? Do you have any other medical problems? There are a few other things you probably would not want to discuss in public.

If these were the only symptoms you had, and you feel okay today, then it could possibly have been a panic attack, although it would be strange to have them while sleeping, as someone else mentioned.

Now, I'm not trying to alarm you, but these symptoms could also point toward a cardiac event - diaphoresis, tingling in the arm (especially the left), being awakened by the problem, and anxiety are all possible symptoms. If you had any other accompanying symptoms like chest pain or tightness and shortness of breath, it might be worth talking to your doctor.

It's hard for me to assess you online, but if you're concerned about it, check with your doctor. It's probably totally benign, but if you're still having any symptoms, I'd play it safe.

I have always dealt with anxiety in the form of just being tense and worried over things that most wouldn't necessarily dwell on or be nervous and worried about. However, about a week ago I tried to quit smoking and that was it for me, I had a full blown anxiety attack. At first I thought that it was just withdrawals from not smoking but the feeling of my heart racing, nervousness, insominia and restlessness were unbareable. I began smoking again but now those feelings stay with me on a daily basis. I have been to the doctor a few days ago and they prescribed me lexapro and xanax. The xanax helps to a degree but I still worry about what's going to happen when it wears off and if I will ever feel any sort of normalcy again. As for the lexapro, I have seen that worked well with some, but for me, I took it one night and it freaked me out. I had a panic attack from it on top of severe nausea to the point that I was gagging a lot. Many say to give it a chance because it may need time to build within the body but if it's going to make me feel worse then I did, I see no point in continuing it and moving on to something else. You may need to do so as well until you find something that helps you. I am trying to learn how to control my breathing but it hasn't really helped but I suppose practice makes perfect. I also hear that exercise is suppose to help which, is something that I am planning to try today and on forward. Good luck to you and hopefully you will be able to find some sort of peace of mind in knowing there are options to make you feel better and that you aren't alone in dealing with this horrible bout of anxiety. Take care : )

It is possible that you did have a panic attack especially if you have already been diagnosed with anxiety. Are you on medication for the anxiety? If not I would go to your family doctor first and see if he will give you something for the anxiety and to help you get some sleep. If he doesn't want to do it ask him to refer you to a Psychiatrist in your area that you can see to get the problem under control. Good Luck

It could have been a panic attack or you could have just gotten hot and your arm went to sleep. I really don't know. Did you feel panic? When I wake up in the middle of a panic attack for no identifiable reason, I am cold and chilling, my blood pressure is dangerously high, my heart rate is about 160, and I'm hyperventilating along with being scared out of my mind and thinking I'm going to die. Of course, I understand that everyone's panic attacks are different. If you think it was a panic attack, then it probably was.

If you have been diagnosed with anxiety, then I would say more than likely you did have a panic attack.
It certainly sounds like it.
