Bound's hubby here:
A good example for comparison, is a typical, 53' trailer that you would see on an "over-the-road" tractor trailer. Granted, the trailer is a few feet shorter than the Hornet's wingspan ... but it will give you a ready reference!
Good luck!

An average Blue Bird school bus is about 30 ft in length, so you could say about the length of two full-size yellow school buses.
It's easier to imagine just two buses, and most people seem to be familiar with them, so it's pretty universal. It's a rough guide, of course, but it gets the visual across.
Edit: My husband pointed out that a school bus is much longer than 30 feet, so make it 1 1/2 buses. I guess I rode the short bus as a kid!

MikeB hit the nail on the head, a TRUCK! A typical tractor/trailer rig is 67 feet long or so, assuming it is a 53' trailer :)

take 2 dollar bills, they are about 12 inches total. As you probably dont have 120 bills around, you can take string or tape and mark it off.
