I haven't been diagnosed with it, but i identify very strongly with the characteristics/traits of Borderline Personality. It doesn't affect my life as such..well obviously it does, but not to a full blown extent. I still manage to get by. I want to talk to a psychiatrist about it but am worried about the cost. I am currently studying and working parttime so I am basically living from paychecks to paychecks. Just want to know if anyone is in a similar situation? Or any advice?

I'd recommend getting help, although I understand your financial problem. The thing with borderline personality disorder is that when it gets really entrenched, it's very hard to treat and it can really interfere with your relationships. So working on it soon is important. How I wish my ex would have gotten help, a 20 year marriage might not have had to end.

I was diagnosed with a borderline personality about 9 years ago. My psychiatrist put me on some meds for it to go along with the rest of them that I have to take because I have a really bad case of Bipolar Disorder also. The two sort of go hand in hand. If you cannot afford to go to a Psychiatrist check you local phone directory for a Psychiatric mental health clinic in your area. They usually charge you on a sliding scale on your ability to pay. If you do not make enough to pay them it is usually free. After you see the Psychiatrist if he gives you prescriptions for meds they may be free to you also. Don't suffer with it needlessly there is free help out there.

You need to contact your local mental health center, which is either state or county. The fee is usually a sliding scale based on income.

You need to have help so I would suggest going to the state you live in for aid. In California, they require you to work twenty hours a week in order to cover you with state aid. Its a pain in the butt and you have to jump through hoops in order to have it but since the health care in this country is sooooooo BAD we have to do something for ourselves. You should qualify for health coverage even if it means you have to pay a deductible.
