It's more noticeable than other colors - especially to the police ... I have a friend who used to refer to my son's first car as "arrest me red."

You should get the color car you want (it's *your* car, after all), and don't worry about what other people say.

What Does Your Car Color Say About Your Personality and Car Insurance Premiums?

Do people with red cars really get more speeding tickets than those with blue cars? Do car insurance companies use the color of your car to determine your rates? Do certain colors increase your chance of an accident? What does the color of your car SAY about your personality?

How Fast IS that Red Car?
According to the web site Colormatters.com there may be some truth the urban legends surrounding car color and speeding tickets… at least anecdotally.

You & Your Car Color

Visitors to that site say that when they drive red cars they seem to get more speeding tickets. Although there seems to be no official statistics kept for such things, and the police aren’t talking about it, the stories reinforce the urban legend that many have heard.

In general, driving the speed limit is usually a good idea no matter what color car you drive. If you keep your red car at or near the limit, the chances you will get a ticket are much smaller. In fact, they are probably exactly the same as the guy next to you driving the speed limit in his purple car.

The Insurance is Higher and Cops like to pull over Red Cars

Ok, from my experience the color red is a cop magnet. I have owned 2 red cars and have been pulled over numerous times. Without changing my driving habits, i got a gray car and have yet to be pulled over. One time i was in the middle of a large pack of cars and a cop singled ME out and pulled me over. Thats when i decided to not do red anymore. Don't get me wrong, its a great color. But just beware that for whatever reason, it stands out. I always thought that was a myth until I had my own troubles.

That is a perplexing question. What I do know for certain is that any sports sedan, convertible, muscle car, etc. always will be in greater demand, ergo, pricier. Perhaps because they do attract more attention, could it be profiling by law enforcement? I have heard folks say that green is bad luck before, but I don't believe ln that nonsense. Only other thing about paint colors that come to mind is that metallics dont tend to hold up as well as solid colors, and baby blue and white seem to be the most resistant to fade and discoloration.

Statistics say that police stop red cars more often than other colors! For some reason a lot of people that own red cars have "heavy right foot" which makes "light wallet". Also for some reason this color oxidizes faster than most other colors, - unless it is kept polished! I don't like red myself, because it says "look at me", other than making sure nobody "runs over me"'- I prefer to sort of "blend in with the scenery"!!

i have never heard of insurance rates going up just by having a red car. Although, I DO believe that cops are more attracted to "new, sporty" red cars. It's like showing a red sheet to a bull. They'll come at you full speed. Myself, I love red cars. My car is red and my next car will be red. hehe

I don't believe it to be true. I use to have a red Escort ,now a red Mustang.I never got pulled over with the Escort or my Mustang now. My insurance is the same. Also my windows are tinted extremely dark and no one bothers me.It's a old wives tale.

there have been tests done that prove that the red paint on the car pumps more adrenaline through your body so you want to go faster. they also said that there have been more accidents involving red vehicles than all other vehicles combined.
