There are 6 (yes 6) children. 6 year old girl (typical), 6 year old boy (mildly autistic, behavior problems), 3 year old girl (typical), 3 year old boy (behavior problems, exposed to drugs & alcohol prenatally), 17 month old boy (typical) and 7 month old girl (typical). The oldest 4 we have adopted thru foster care & the 2 youngest are foster children in our home. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I know it will be expensive but I have NO IDEA what to pay. Thanks!

$20 an hour and a fridge stocked with Coke and don't forget the junk food.

I'm in Ohio also.

I'm also from Ohio. Most of the people I know pay anywhere from $2-$3 an hour. Usually if they have more then one child at the sitter's they get a discount, but considering the number of children and the fact that some of them have behavioral problems I would probably say stick with the $2-$3 range. You could always start off with the lower until you meet an acceptable pay with the sitter. Have you ever considered daycare? It might be about the same price, maybe a tad more, but there would be more people watching your children.

Best of luck to you and your family!

First off.... Kudos to you for opening your hearts and your home to kids in need.

I would recommend at least $5.00 an hour if you only hire 1 sitter. I would recommend trying to hire 2 high school girls and paying them each $3.00.

You end up paying a dollar more an hour but less likely to have your sitter quit on you. One babysitter might find 6 kids overwhelming especially 2 with behavior problems. And the sodas and junk food stocked are always good.

Good Luck!!!

I have been a babysitter before, and I've paid babysitters before. I think $3 / hr - per child is pretty reasonable. Especially if they have unusual needs. Just try putting yourself into the role of babysitter - what do you feel would be adequate pay if you were coming in to take care of 6 children? You could also start at $2/hr - per child and leave the wage open for discusion after a 1 month trial period.

Best of luck to you!

Wow...I dont think leaving those kids at home is a good idea. No offense, but 6 children, and 1 w/problems? Ok, first of all, get a very mature and experienced baby sitter. I think for 6 kids u should make it....uh...well if its for a few hours (3 or 4) then, 25-30 dollars,
good luck!!
