We know?

Though there is much inference from defective and/or presumptive evidence that some dogmatically say "proves" that the earth is old, where is the real proof? Where is a single artifact that can be proven via historic references to be 6000 years old? Thousands of years ago when men were (as you allege) inventing these preposterous stories, why did everyone allow the charade to begin? Why are there no equally old refutations of Genesis? Where were guys like you back then?

Further, what about all the prophecies that we DO know from historical records (see source) were fulfilled? I mention prophecies only because your question is obviously an attack on the Bible as a whole.

The church has spent centuries being disproven. They used to teach that the sun revolved around the earth, that was disproven and they excommunicated the scientist. They used to teach that the earth was younger than they do now but when they encountered the chinese who had a historical record and written language that went back further they obviously had to change that. That is the advantage of everything in the Bible being written vaguely,so you can change the interpretation as it suits the situation,or in this case when you're continually proven wrong. That's why they started having their own"scientists" so they could have their followers see someone with a PHD tell them the newest version of the truth. Even though not one single other scientist on earth would agree with their conclusions, because they made them up to suit their beliefs.

And just HOW do we know? Who told us and how did they determine the age of the earth?
Well, even if.... There's still the possibility that what happened in Genesis took place over a longer period than our perception of "a day". There is a scripture which states, "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand Years, and a thousand years as one day." II Peter 3:8

well......I don't see where you or anyone else has proved or even remotely comes close to discrediting Genesis.

The Jews taught the six-day theory that the world would go on for 6,000 years and Christ would return on the 7th day, or the final 1,000 years of Revelation 20:4, and they based it on Psalm 90:4, and the Christians on 2 Peter 3:8 where it says that a day is like 1,000 years and 1,000 years is like a day. Since God created the world in 6 days, Genesis 1:31, 6,000 years and then rested on the 7th day, 1,000 years, so will it be.
This is interesting and the king is coming in John 1:49, the wedding is on the third day, chapter 2, verse 1, and Christ becomes our groom and that, of course, is Revelation 19:7. Then the Jews, listen to what they have to say. After two days, 2,000 years, God will revive us as a nation. That happened in 1948, almost after 2,000 years. Then they add, and after the third day, he shall raise us up. That's when Christ returns to set up his kingdom on earth. So the three-day theory is the New Testament that's total 7 day Theory is Old and New combined.

If a day equals 1000 years and 1000 years equals a day, then since Jesus rose from the dead on the third day, does this have significance for His Second Coming?
Let's see some things that really do seem to have significance, first of all from Ha'aretz "Small Quake Hits Dead Sea; Experts: Big One On The Way." And from Templemount.org "Israeli President asks Vatican to Reveal List of Temple Treasures, Vessels and Judacia they Hold."
I guess they had some things right there in the Vatican that they would like to know about and they would like to have. First of all, the Rabbis said that there would only be seven days in world history because a day was like 1,000 years, Psalm 90:4, and it was patterned after creation. He created the world in six days, Genesis 1:31 and rested on the 7th day, Genesis 2:2. And since each day represents 1,000 years, and we Christians also set that according to II Peter 3:8, we then have four days of Old Testament time and three days of New Testament time for the total of 7000 years, So let's just deal with the three days of New Testament time.
Here is proof that this is correct, Hosea 6, verse 2. The Jews didn't have their own land for a couple thousand years and they say after two days, 2,000 years, He'll revive us - that happened in 1948, almost after 2,000 years, then on the third day which just started in the last number of months, He will raise us up that we may live in his sight, the Jews are raised in Daniel 12, when the Messiah comes and sets his foot upon the earth. Now here are two exciting signs that , They're expecting the greatest earthquake ever and it's right there at the Dead Sea fault and when Jesus Christ returns His Feet hit the Mount of Olives and it splits down the center and they say, we are waiting for that big one and that could be the return of Christ. But the most exciting thing, beyond that, is that the Jews are asking for all of the things the Vatican has from the old temples. Why? Because they have built the replica of the exact temple 269,000 square feet by the dead sea! And they are putting everything in it and getting all the Cohen's. For they are the Levites, they're prepared to do sacrifice so that when the real one is built, the one in which antichrist sits, 2 Thessalonians 2:4 and says he's god, Daniel 11:36, it will be ready. It's that close. Then Christ comes and sits in it permanently. Ezekiel 40 to 44.
.

Now, Don't misunderstand me. I could care less, if you believe any, all, or none of this. Fact is this...YOU can't prove this wrong :)

Good Q*.

Hey!

Lets look on the bright side of your discovery.

The Bible has offered a golden opportunity to millions upon millions of under-privileged masses to receive an education that was before only available to those who could afford to go to the Halls of Higher Learning and it therefore should be honoured as the evidence that the Human Race is actually a Rat Race to be so gullible to consume, with the passion of scavengers, the filth that Rome could produce out of its myths and corrupt aristocracy.

The Bible truly deserves to be preserved by the likes of doddering and tottering Parkinson-gripped old perverts and psycopaths and pedophiles of the great Roman civilization.

No wonder copies are found in hotel rooms and in all those littlle churches that are the off-shoots of American Independence.

Drosnin's technique is heavily based on that of Eliyahu Rips of Hebrew University in Israel, who published an article entitled "Equidistant Letter Sequences in the Book of Genesis" in the journal Statistical Science (Witztum, Rips, and Rosenburg 1994). Like Rips, Drosnin arranges the 304,805 Hebrew letters of the Bible into a large array. Spaces and punctuation marks are omitted, and words are run together one after another. A computer looks for matches to selected names or words by stepping to every nth letter in the array. One can go forward or backward; and for each value of "step distance," n, there are n different starting letters. Drosnin's match for "Yitzhak Rabin" had a step value n equal to 4,772.

I am surprised there is not more answers like:

--

"you're wrong, because a god-year = 1,000,000 earthian years,
so: 6,000 god-years = 6,000,000,000 earthian years!

So ya see, non-christian scientists who believe that earth-planet was born about 4,5 billions years ago were close to the truth (not close enough though).

And why 1 god-year = 1,000,000 earthian years?

Simply because god lives on a planet that needs 1,000,000 earthian years to orbit around its star.

So in His view:
1 local year = 1,000,000 earthian years."

--

But something is telling me that this kind of answer was already written by some believers somewhere, in some books & websites.

I read this theory a bit ago, very interesting.

Genesis states that generally there was something there before God filled the world. The world of dinosaurs could have been there beforehand, and because there would be no reason for God to mention that, it wasn't mentioned. The darkness that God lit up could have been the dark earth because of the dust in the atmousphere from the asteroid.

Alternatively, days are generally referred to a millenia in the Bible. 7 days would have been 7000 years or so.

It refutes a literal translation of Genesis, but I don't believe it was meant to be taken literally anyway.
